This all seems vaguely familiar. . . Side note, Cleveland's Van Sweringen brothers were absolutely destroyed by the Depression. M.J. died in 1935, O.P. followed in late 1936.

the point of the ballroom obvs has nothing to do with aesthetics. it's to create an architectural structure to honor the patronage networks that currently dominate US politics. previous WH venues hosted maybe a couple of hundred people; this hosts nearly 1,000 rich donors.

Not that we know of. Our Clarks seem to be separate from the gas station chain. There may be a link to the car dealer Ganleys back in Ireland, but we're a different branch. We are, however, the same Grabskis who sold cars on Broadway back in the day.
