I'm familiar with Foxborough. Seen my NFL team lose far too many times there in January.

It is completely delusional shit but people keep enabling him on it and I'm sick of it

If Scotland qualify I massively hope we get drawn in Mexico or Canada
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
There's a non zero chance that teams will actually arrive in their host cities then be told that they're playing 300 miles from the original site within a day because the orange cunt had a tantrum that morning
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
A reminder by the way that nine of the US venues for this World Cup voted blue
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
They've completely fucked it, in every sense.

Hasn't had a host that really captured what the World Cup is properly about since 2014. Canada and Mexico might do it. The US absolutely won't.

I'm so sick of this world kowtowing to this pathetic little man baby who thinks he's the fucking protagonist of life. I'm so sick of it
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
This tournament is going to be a fucking shit show. Cunt is going to ruin this World Cup
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
Gianni needs to fucking resign, today. The fucking kowtowing coward
tariqpanja.bsky.social
FIFA effectively agreeing the Donald Trump and remove cities from World Cup hosting with this statement. He suggested yesterday Gianni would agree with whatever he wanted.

Sounds like multi-year for Russell, which surprises me a little
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
Which they won't. Ferrari have just renewed Vasseur recently.
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
Hahaha absolutely. Classic Toto behaviour

I think he'll take another swing for Verstappen. I don't believe the Leclerc rumours for a second though (can't see Charles ever choosing to leave Ferrari)
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
Russell and Antonelli confirmed for 2026. A forgone conclusion at this point.

Nothing said beyond 2026 though, which is interesting.

Just because some folks in "the big nations" hate the international break, doesn't mean it's the same for the rest of us.
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
A very good read here.

Do not switch it to the Nations League. Every team deserves a fair shot to qualify, and some amazing stories - Faroe Islands, Kosovo, Cape Verde, Curaçao and Suriname, Jordan and Uzbekistan - have come out of qualifying for this World Cup.
rorysmith.bsky.social
I know everyone hates the international break, and that qualifiers seem like a procession of pointless games with an obvious conclusion. But that is only the view from the world's major nations. And football isn't just for the major nations. (Even if it feels like it) observer.co.uk/news/sport/a...
The joy of qualifying belongs to the few, not the powerful
The Faroe Islands prove that while qualifying may be imperfect, it remains the beating heart of international football

Very good article that sums up a lot of what I’ve been thinking.

Of course Premier League matches are 10x better pound-for-pound (the players train together every week). But I don’t always find club football more ‘interesting’. There should always be a place for random / fun internationals.
Article by Rory Smith in the Observer about UEFA deliberating making sweeping changes to the qualification process for the World Cup and Euros:

“Even in England - home to the loudest wailing that these interludes are unwelcome interruptions to the real business of watching people take corners in the Premier League - there is no reason to look far for proof that international football can command considerable audiences. Are the Scots bored, now that they are two wins away from a first World Cup in a generation? Have people been doing sudokus in the stands at Windsor Park?”

The tickets have barely gone on sale, they're not "sold out", and he absolutely cannot take them away, he has no power to decide where the World Cup is played. It's FIFA's call.

Can this dickhead just shut the fuck up already

"“We could take them away,” Trump said of the World Cup games. “I love the people of Boston and I know the games are sold out. But your mayor is not good.”

He suggested “they’re taking over parts of Boston” without offering details, but added “we could get them back in about two seconds.”"

President Donald Trump threatened to relocate World Cup matches set to be played next year in suburban Boston, after suggesting that parts of the city had been “taken over” by unrest. https://cnn.it/4901Nze

Fell asleep, woke up to see Panama equalise, went back to sleep
thedaftestlap.bsky.social
Suriname beating Panama right now 👀.

Undecided if I'll see this one out though, it's very late here

Sonic 06.

As much as I love the Sonic series - 06 nearly killed it. It was fucking WOEFUL.

What's the worst game you finished/rolled credits on?

(games media folks, it can't be something you were assigned to review; this has to be something you subjected yourself to of your own free will)

Curaçao 1-1 Trinidad and Tobago. Dropped points for the home side and that gives Jamaica a massive open door to retake top spot in the group.

most unserious individual i’m in tears
Charles Leclerc commenting on an F1 instagram post that says he’s mathematically still in the fight with “Let’s go babyyyyyyyy”

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO SCORE. That's a big goal in this group!!
