- shot and killed five Palestinians in Gaza City
- refused to open the Rafah border crossing
- announced they would once more block aid

Yes, you should be surprised and horrified by secret federal police running around our city kidnapping immigrants, crashing cars, launching chemical weapons and shooting and killing people. This is a thing you should be *perpetually* shocked by. We lose when we become numb to it.

I’m not trying to say one thing to wear is better than the other. But the fetishization of the inflatables rubs me the wrong way. I think people should keep wearing them! But don’t take anything away from concerned people who come out of their houses with what they have on

there’s no perfect protest. There’s no costume you can wear that the cops won’t brutalize you in. Yes, inflatables are great for undercutting narrative. Yes, cops look ridiculous beating up a frog. They will still beat up a frog.

You are correct that cops will fight anyone, however, optics are a thing whether we like that or not. Black blocs are great, but they also feed into the "radical leftist" imagery this administration is foaming at the mouth for. Not giving it to them is somewhat satisfying.

Rogers Park and surrounding neighborhoods were hit hard by immigration enforcement activity over the weekend.

There's no competition here, but I want to name that the same heavy, violent, fast-moving abduction pattern has invaded the southwest side about three times a week for over a month now.

for sure! my socialist predilection for big government comes from knowing how much public works and social services are good for society, and from the idea that we can prevent things like a Confederacy. But I feel less confident about all that lately lol

the United States, to borrow from @chrislhayes.bsky.social , has always been a nation controlling colonies within itself. The ICE project is expanding that. If you’re not white, rich, and sufficiently deferential to the regime, you are a target for colonialist violence
