The entire town is run by the good ole boys network. Abbott is part of that. Right after the Uvalde incident, Abbott was the first one on the stage where the press gathered and sung the praises of law enforcement that allowed 17 kids to die. Texas government is filled with corruption.

The original reporting from back in September and the information provided by the authorities and the Congressman paint a much different picture of what we are now learning. It’s stunning to read the reporting from then and compare it to new reports.

Your posts also evinced a clear misunderstanding of how the bill worked. They Misunderstood the difference between increasing costs and decreasing growth rates in costs (second derivative), and willfully ignored that the increase in costs also delivered a massive expansion in coverage.

Ordered to lie, fired when he refused.

My thoughts on the 60 Minutes interview of former DOJ attorney turned whistleblower, Erez Reuveni, and why any prosecution in the Trump Regime must be viewed with skepticism, if not outright disgust.

As discussed in our Assessment on Democratic Decline, non-compliance with court orders is a core element contributing to the weakening of judicial independence. It threatens to hollow out judicial authority, leaving constitutional rights contingent on executive discretion.
DOJ whistleblower Erez Reuveni says Emil Bove told him, 'those planes need to take off no matter what, and if some court should issue an order preventing that, we may have to consider telling that court 'fuck you.'

Reuveni: It is the highest, most egregious violation of the lawyer's code of ethics.

look at the framing of this story, placed in the most important position of yesterday's new york times, and tell me this newspaper isn't trying to take out the democratic party

The White House keeps making a big deal of the fact that the ballroom is privately funded but that’s one of the worst things about it.

These people and companies are buying influence. None of this is okay.
Sometimes it ends up bein both. Go read their article from a quarter century ago headlined “Bush: ‘Our Long National Nightmare of Peace and Prosperity is Over’” if you really wanna see the line blur!

Demolishing part of the White House, gilding the rest, and shitting on the American people are all apt metaphors for this administration.

I once talked to a female doctor who told me her pelvis was too narrow to give birth vaginally so I asked her how people like her had given birth in the past. She replied:

We died.

Regular reminder that «dying in childbirth» used to be a common occurrence.

Ken Paxton’s crimes are well known. But John Cornyn may be even more corrupt.

Cornyn was the deciding vote on the “Big Ugly Bill” — kicking millions off their healthcare to give his billionaire donors a tax cut.

That is corruption of the highest order.

James Talarico: We have politicians who have ‘Christ follower’ in their Twitter bios, but they are kicking the sick off health care. It's estimated 51,000 Americans will die needlessly if these GOP cuts go through. That's 51,000 flesh and blood human beings. That’s a moral crime

No, I’m afraid not. The text of Article 2 Section 4: The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

I'm tired. We're all tired. This isn't hard to understand. You can't inflate prices of basic necessities like food and housing to ridiculous highs while keeping wages at poverty levels, then act surprised when luxury goods/services and large purchases become unattainable or payments unaffordable.

Part of the reason this struck me is that I've had my head in the 1960s DOJ for a while.

The DOJ press secretary back then was a Pulitzer Prize winner who'd been reporting for twenty years (except when he was winning medals in WWII).

Today, it's the dumbest meanest airhead in middle school.
Everyone's focused on how idiotic Lindsey Halligan is, but don't sleep on the official response from Department of Justice spokeswoman Natalie Baldassarre.

It's just Mean Girls all the way down, if they'd written that script while huffing paint fumes.
