I have not said this lately.

Maybe you are engaging in politics or social activism for the first time.

That does not mean that this is the first time ANYONE is engaging with politics or social activism.

It’s a long game, that has been played for generations.

Mike Johnson: "They berated a Capitol police officer, screamed at him. He was merely standing his post. It shows, again, their disdain for law enforcement, the Democrats, screaming, assaulting officers."

Seriously though: older women are absolutely the core of essentially every positive organized movement I've seen. We'd be lost without them.

"And yet Táíwò’s own position misses something fundamental about the world we now inhabit. Shame does not operate in a vacuum...today, the sturdy ground that once formed shame’s foundation has collapsed."

Why Shame No Longer Works in American Politics
While it once played a role in binding society, shame has lost its power—and so have the liberal tools that depend on it.

I am shocked that young republicans would ecxhange texts that include racist slurs, antisemitic tropes, Hitler praise, and jokes about violence, gas chambers, slavery, & rape. Can't begin to imagine where they got that from, or why they thought that was okay. Clutch my pearls, why don't you?

Republican efforts to wipe out medical research in the U.S., to take a trillion dollars away from hospitals, & to eradicate health insurance access are integral to the eugenic fantasies of their fascist project. All expressions of the same fascist ideology.

What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.
Article (Nolan Feeney; TIME) excerpt reads: “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. Some will jump to the conclusion that I'm calling myself a Black Messiah. For me, the title is about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to. We should all aspire to be a Black Messiah.

It's about people rising up in Ferguson and in Egypt and in Occupy Wall Street and in every place where a community has had enough and decides to make change happen, D'Angelo writes in a statement about the album It's not about praising one charismatic leader but celebrating thousands of them. Not every song on this album is politically charged (though many are), but calling this album Black Messiah creates a landscape there these songs can live to the fullest. Black Messiah is not one man. It's a feeling that, collectively, we are all that leader.”

“D’Angelo’s First Album in 14 Years Is Finally Here, and It’s Surprisingly Timely” via TIME.

To be clear:

LA County has declared a state of emergency BECAUSE OF the federal government.

The Feds, LA County is (correctly) saying, have CAUSED the emergency.

This is a striking political moment of internal collapse. Local govts feeling compelled to protect their ppl from … their own govt.

When I studied the Second World War I genuinely could not understand how the Germans found so many people to participate in their worst excesses. And I mean across the whole war, not just concentration camps.

I don't have a problem understanding it any more...

At 14 I learned to walk with my keys between my fingers, never walk past a van, on a deserted street, walk in the middle of the road…and if a man comes after you, fight like hell.

If someone wearing a mask grabbed me, I would assume that they were a rapist, who might murder me.

Eric Trump: "We're saving Christianity. We've saving God. We've saving the family unit. We're saving this nation. I mean, DEI is out of the window, Benny. You no longer have Colin Kaepernick kneeling for the national anthem. You no longer have Budweiser going woke as hell. All of this is dead."
