I've heard the argument that because his behaviour is fine in Ruby spaces/events, then it's all good, but that to me is disingenuous to say the least when it's very clear from his posting just how he feels about large sections of the community.
I have a growing number of unpurchasabels on my shopping list because Siri doesn’t understand me saying “puy lentils”. Alongside “toilet sauce” we now also have “foil lettuce”.

@rhiannon.io 's entire thread here, honestly. Ruby Central lost the plot here and has made a lot of bad calls, but hopefully this can serve as a catalyst to restoring it to what it should be.
Brandon is right. Ruby Central needs broader funding to avoid even more consolidation of power in the Ruby ecosystem. I for one am committing to do my part.
RE: Ruby Central funding, and a consolidation of power with companies like Shopify.

For years now the lead funder of Ruby and Rails initiatives has been Shopify, full stop. They've contributed heavily in both time and money, and through that have left a substantial impact on Ruby and Rails.
Sinners Road was painful tho, never managed to get the rest point working
Maybe I lucked out but made it out into the coral chamber pretty quickly. Either that or playing the same runback to Last Judge for hours over and over helped me finally learn how to control Hornet properly
Ah I went straight in (and down) from Last Judge. So far pretty brutal, but perhaps I dodged a bullet not backtracking?
Clearly I just needed to get something off my chest first.
The funniest part of his cloud-exit boasting is the fact that they were originally on prem, and it was at his insistence (and against their advice) that the infra team migrated everything to the cloud.

Ages ago, when I was still a student, I taught myself Ruby on Rails for my senior thesis and fell in love. Fifteen years later, and I’ve used Rails at every job I’ve ever held in the tech industry. Fifteen years, and I still love Rails! But there’s something rotten at its core, and we share a name.

Looking for a small meeting space (10-15 people) with a screen in central Manchester to host the next @nwrug.org. Any suggestions?
