Ever since I started going to the movie theater more this year because there is nothing more magical and mindful than seeing films in a cinema, I've realized just how niche horror really is. Most films last 1-2 weeks and rarely hit mainstream appeal, unless they're franchises

think new interest in japanese ink painting is good for my brain. needs decisive strokes, can't be retouched, so just have to resolve to keep trying and not feel bad no matter what. this is day 4. can't do bamboo leaves properly yet, (i think i need to move from elbow, not wrist?) but... see above.

The secret to life? Easy. Don't be afraid to be sincere. Don't take yourself too seriously. Extend grace & kindness to kids who don't know the rules/how to be in society yet. Lift up your friends & loved ones every chance you get. Remember your best won't be 100% every day. That's basically it.

I vote Katabasis. Since you're an academic I think you'd relate, plus it is long. I have read Emperor of Gladness and liked it, but I think I prefered On Earth on audio book since it was so lyrical

I'll be honest, I'm not crazy about the name, "No Kings," purely from a branding perspective. He's said he wants to be a dictator, not a king, so it kind of feels like a hot take, easily villified. But it's the best organized protest that's coming to my small town, so I'll still go.
