Alliance of Oak (book 2) does start to dig into it, peeling back the layers of secrecy, but I can’t reveal much as it is plot relevant

The reality is a lot of that mindset really does treat independence and questioning authority a “devil’s influence” trait. Grew up with a similar mindset in a conservative catholic household
