It's just so interesting how Accra itself was divided by colonizers. British Accra, Dutch Accra, and Danish Accra.

Trying to learn more about these Euro-Africans and how they dealt with slavery.

Post Civil War in the South: white on white crime. Funny how that gets forgotten. There were white Confederate deserters (a lot of them) and those loyal to the Union and they were fighting the Confederate loyalists.

The white plantation owners had no idea how to grow crops. The enslaved people did.

Forty miles to the west of the Cottingham farm, in Greene
County, hundreds of former slaves
filed suit against white landowners
in 1868 demanding that the former
slave masters be compelled to pay
wages earned during the prior season's work. Whites responded by burning down the courthouse, and with it all 1,800 lawsuits filed by the freedmen.
