I think Trump has a problem with SCOTUS that he can't quite get a grip on.

Google, Meta, Apple, Oracle, Palantir, Amazon, and every telecom already know exactly where you are, what you're thinking, and what you're going to do all the time. Until recently, ICE would be much less risky than any one of those companies because you used to have constitutionally protected rights

TIL that Texas exports are mostly oil, gas, and byproducts. No wonder its politics resembles that of a rentier state. Florida is dominated by agriculture, tourist resorts, port facilities, and real estate. So, its politics is like many Latin American countries. Huh!

I’m horrified to hear that two people were kidnapped by ICE in Evanston this morning.

There’s a protest at Home Depot shortly. We’ll be delivering water and supplies to protesters — I hope you’ll join us in standing with our community.

The Texas Military Department confirmed to @taskandpurpose.com it had replaced some of the 200 National Guard troops sent to Chicago for not being "in compliance" with validation standards. This came after photos of heavyset NG members were widely mocked. taskandpurpose.com/news/texas-n...

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.

The boy’s mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.

“My world collapsed,” Berto said in Portuguese.

From the police department, the boy was taken to ICE’s holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.

The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

More truck-free cargo trailer action! This was a 30-mile bike ride to pick up a bedroom set from a Craigslist ad. Once you live a car-lite or car-free lifestyle, you can't unsee the waste and inefficiency of personal car ownership. #CargoBikes #CarsRuinCities #FossilFuel #CleanAir #CarsStink

But GOP-Trump head-in-the-ass-first-ism makes that impossible.

I think if the US declared electrification of the I-5 & I-95 corridor & complete electrification of all trans US rail - it could create thd same security needed to promote REE mining.
sunils.bsky.social
Unfortunately the US is also hydrocarbon rich & it has invested 50+ years of policy into securing the petro-dollar. So it is very difficult to fund a "Manhattan Project" in this context.
sunils.bsky.social
In China the government has invested in a huge electrification program with massive investment in Renewables, EVs and railway electrification. This makes. Lot of sense in China because it is hydrocarbon poor.
sunils.bsky.social
The refining costs too much and the revenue neutrality timescale is quite large even by mining timescales. Guaranteeing a stable commodity price over such a large timescale is quite ... difficult regardless of whether it is China or elsewhere.

The Trump regime's cuts to early carbon removal projects, like DAC hubs in Louisiana and Texas, cause industry uncertainty. Though the DOE says these projects aren't terminated, the risk of further cuts remains. This highlights the fragility of early projects and inconsistent government support.
Is Trump about to squash America’s carbon-removal moonshot?
Nascent direct-air-capture projects were hit with funding cuts last week. A new list has caused confusion over the fate of DAC hubs in Louisiana and Texas.

Dem party leaders in the two Midwestern states are mobilizing campaigns to prevent the GOP-drawn maps from going into effect ahead of next year’s midterms.

Neither has seen much support from Washington for their efforts.
Missouri Democrats have an opportunity to block a new congressional map. They say they’re largely on their own.
Despite relatively little investment from Washington, Missouri and Ohio Democrats are looking to block new Republican-drawn maps through uncertain avenues.
