It's really good that as in-person retail dies all the shops have phone signal blockers presumably to stop you doing price comparisons so you can't converse with your partner to make decisions on buying things so you want, instead, to buy all your stuff online

Fancied more interstellar travel
Cover for Kim Stanley Robinson's novel Aurora. The cover shows deep space with a bright fizzy space station in the corner.

Annoyed that there are sequels though

Absolutely devoured this. A brilliant book genuinely epic in scale.

And so we beat on, TARDIS against the current, reborn back ceaselessly into the Pastry

They should have given Mr Pastry the role, and every subsequent Doctor should also have been required to play it in the exact style of Mr Pastry.

Tell me your most unhinged Doctor Who opinion. I mean, if you’re a fan, they’re likely all unhinged anyway.

This train will be calling at:
A sign for Edinburgh Waverley station badly edited to read 'Edinburgh Wavey'.

We can add a giant threshing machine that kills everyone that gets too close on a floating bouncy castle

I'm buying the land around the castle and below it, building a waterproof tunnel over the train lines, and refilling the Nor Loch

lets say a wizard has cursed you with a lot of money. you are going to become permanently brain damaged simply by being in possession of so much money. the only way out of it is to spend a lot of money on something ridiculous and not at all useful

what would you buy to break the curse?

History attends a course of affirmations, finds it can repeat, can visualise & release. History finds its centre, centres itself, is at peace. History considers its journey, uncovers a state of grace, knows that if it concentrates on its direction, its destination will be an exceptional commonplace.

History repeats itself first as tragedy then as farce finally as terza rima

History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme. It never uses assonance but it does utilise pathetic fallacy. It will never make use of enjambment, but it will, occasionally, be alliterative. It doesn't use iambic pentameter but it does deploy chiasmus. It doesn't use synecdoche but it does use ellipsis
