The guy on the left went on TV advocating the legalisation of incest, no matter how bad I think it's going to be, it's somehow worse

The one guarantee that I can give you, no matter the platform, is any post I make that does well will have a stupid typo in it

We love that big view of the beach as you'd stumble back from Primavera - have a great time

Back in Barcelona. What a city
A 140 year old magic shop called King of Magic Mural outside a community garden of Leila Khaled and a Zapatista woman with “for a world with room for all: rebel dignity flourishes” in Catalan A kid in a black and white patterned dress runs across a plaza to a piece of well-maintained, thoughtful play equipment Sun shining on the wild vision of Barcelona beach, huge waves crashing onto the shore with the outline of big 90s scyscrapers on the horizon

I am now in a post-Shadow Ticket world, the sadness is different somehow

History doesn't repeat, but it does rhyme. It never uses assonance but it does utilise pathetic fallacy. It will never make use of enjambment, but it will, occasionally, be alliterative. It doesn't use iambic pentameter but it does deploy chiasmus. It doesn't use synecdoche but it does use ellipsis

History repeats itself first as tragedy then as farce finally as terza rima

I don't know if being a young conservative makes you look like that or looking that way exiles you to the young conservatives but there's something repellent there

Planck's Principle

"A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it ..."

Ruben's Saturn is much more frightening to me as he looks far too much like my father and, in lockdown times, me

i feel like i could make 20 aubrey-maturin adaptations with that disney 360 degree set and a handful of live actors for the cost of what openAI spends each day generating videos of MLK appearing on joe rogan

Printed in the Times of London, our newspaper of record, this very week

The guy on the right wrote in a WebZine called The Fedora that reprinted articles from Tales of Ephebophilia

That's such a great way to put it: they have sweaty quality of meat that's tinged with green

The current crop of UK literary fiction is mostly bad, some of it very, very bad but Howard Jacobson won the Booker 15 years ago, Ian McEwan ten years before that so there's often really dire spells

Good idea if I linked it though

An unhinged literary opinion needs to be like Muriel Spark believing T.S. Eliot was sending her coded messages through his plays, not 'hear me out, I don't like Dickens'. That is simply a literary opinion. The hinges are very much intact.

I don't want to be putting a ten foot pole on any of them never mind my finger! They all look like different caricatures of people you interpose yourself between and weans - I do believe you can judge a book by it's cover so if we shipped them all off to Antarctica I think society would improve

He swam the seas before the continents broke water; he once swam over the site of the Tuileries, and Windsor Castle, and the Kremlin.

There's a transatlantic arms race going on as to which set of young conservatives can look the weirdest - as do often in my life I am calling for a ceasefire

That post about Muriel Spark going round this morning has fully entered my mental lexicon - assumes stoner voice "That take man, it's kinda hinged"

It's hard to do a song about a mining disaster that won't leave me quivering with rage but this being so soaringly gorgeous makes it even more so
