A distant Oak tree for #ThickTrunkTuesday #Trees #Oak #ColorADay #GreenSat
An Oak tree in full leaf rises behind a footpath gate marking the way to the woods behind the Oak. The foreground contains long grass and thistles ripened by the summer sun hedges at the back of the field split in the middle to reveal a metal footpath gate with a yellow topped post to indicate the way. The trunk of the Oak tree rises behind the gate with the main branches abnnd leaves starting above the hedges other trees can be seen in the background these all form part of the woods at Bascote Heath and the footpath runs alongside the edge of the woods to Ufton, Warwickshire. Blue sky is visble above the tree canopy. Image from the 5th of August 2025.

Waterdrops on a Borage flower
#Macro #MacroPhotography #ColorADay #BlueTue #Flowers #BloomScrolling #WaterDrops #MacroMonday
Partially in focus Borage flower with waterdrops on some of the petals. In the foreground one of the sepals has a large waterdrop at its tip which is magnifying and distorting some of the bristles on the sepal. Two very small waterdrops hang from some bristles at the tip of the sepal.

“EPA said the biggest threats to overall health of the country’s natural water bodies include animal waste, fertilisers & pesticides running off farmland and forestry”.

Politically backed ongoing wreckage of our natural environment for profit continues unabated.

'No Sweat'

For today's #BirdOfTheDay of #Wings & #Droplets I have a double bill.

This handsome chap came swanning out of the shade for his profile shot after his shower.

Sparty 🦢

#EastCoastKin #Photography #Art #Nature #PhotographersofBluesky #BlueSkyPhotography #BlueskyArt #ArtYear #UKBirding
The image is a striking, close-up, and slightly low-angle portrait of a mute swan, a species easily identified by its orange beak with a prominent black knob at the base. The swan is facing forward, looking directly into the camera, with a dark, blurred background that isolates the subject.

The beak is a distinct feature, with a bright orange colouration that contrasts sharply with the black knob at its base. A small, subtle ridge runs down the center of the upper beak.

The bird’s white plumage is visible, particularly on the head and neck. The feathers on top of its head appear wet and have a textured, almost rippled appearance, with small water droplets still clinging to them. The feathers on its body appear soft and smooth.

The swan's eye is small and dark, almost blending into the black border around the beak, creating a concentrated, intense gaze.
The long, curved neck of the swan is visible, and the overall impression is one of elegance and grace, even in this detailed close-up.
The lighting in the photograph appears to be focused on the swan's head and neck, highlighting its features and creating a sense of depth against the dark background. This focus on the subject and the use of the blurred background create a powerful and artistic portrait of the bird.

For #ThickTrunkTuesday another winter scene. Ok, so they’re not that thick but they’re still trunks. Stick up for me here guys. 😂😂 #photography #EastCoastKin #Ireland
A narrow country lane lined with tall, leafless trees dusted in snow stretches into the distance under a dramatic winter sky. The snow-covered road shows faint tire tracks, and the sunlight casts long shadows across the white landscape. Fenced fields on either side glisten with frost, creating a peaceful, frozen countryside scene.
