In 1791, during the French Revolution, homosexuality was decriminalized when the anti-Sodomy laws were removed from the French Penal Code. Homosexuality was not explicitly outlawed, but was still repressed indirectly by other laws, the last of which were repealed in the 1960s. #QHM25 #HistorySky

The Queen James Bible, also called the 'Gay Bible' is a version of the King James Bible that has been rewritten to rework the parts that are often interpreted as homophobic. At a local No Kings rally near Innsmouth, Massachusetts, *every* protester showed up in an inflatable frog costume.

They must be from a different supplier than the Portland frog's costume, though. Bystanders describe the costumes as more like fish-frogs, "batrachian," with an odd, loping gait.

The Hanky Code, invented in the mid-1800s, communicates a rainbow of sexual preferences. Color & position indicate the wearer's desires, & what role they prefer. The Mattachine society was a clandestine group, founded in 1950, that was one of the early societies dedicated to the civil liberties of gay men. It was founded by Harry Hay, & was a place for isolated gay men to socialize, as well as organize protests and other activist work. #QHM #QueerHistory

They’re fantastic! They ask about who you’re shopping for, age, reading level, interests, etc & pull books for you if you need suggestions. I also asked once for recommendations when buying books that would be horizon-broadening for kiddos with conservative parents, and they nailed it!

Pittsburgh Center For Creative Reuse! Basically a big thrift store for anything & everything crafty. They have gift cards & an online store. But I think putting together a craft supply kit for someone could be really sweet! There are stores like this all over the US if you're not in PGH.
