Some critics approach game and narrative as silos (which tbh many games end up seeming to as well; see e.g. The Last Of Us). Meaningful criticism of interactive work means thinking about what one says about the other not "it's a funny / hard game with some funny / sad bits".

Finished Baby Steps. 85k steps and "seven hours" (surely longer than that, even discounting the time I left it on pause). Enjoyed watching the end credits more than any end sequence I can remember. I missed so much. I want to play more but I also value my mental health. Incredible game. 7/10

Also: I'll talk about this on One Life Left on Monday but I think Baby Steps might be one of the best games. I've not played anything this whole since Thumper. It hits what it wants to be so carefully, so hard. I love it and it has made me think a million thoughts about design, detail and craft.
