Hello my name is Rich and I accept the reality of how bad climate change is. The first step to solve any problem is to accept you have a problem #stayinformedcc

@wanderinggaia.bsky.social #stayinformedcc As wildfires, floods, droughts and record-breaking temperatures have shown, the post-climate change era has arrived. #climatechange www.theguardian.com/world/commen...

What frustrates me about this subject is how many people will not accept how bad #climatechange is. Most people are more worried about the price of gas going up. They can’t see the big picture and when I try to show them the big picture they get defensive. Ignorance is bliss #stayinformedcc

The significant ongoing tidal flooding event in the #Miami area is caused by a few coincident components:
1) the full moon on October 6, which happens to be near perigee (October 8)
2) sea level rise adds ~8 inches to the baseline sea level used in NOAA tide predictions

It is telling that on this "SUN Day" where we celebrate the promise of renewable solar energy (www.sunday.earth), the NY Times runs fossil fuel-friendly op-ed promoting a "technofix" that would actually DISRUPT solar energy (www.carbonbrief.org/guest-post-h...).

In #ScienceUnderSiege (www.barnesandnoble.com/w/science-un...), @peterhotezmdphd.bsky.social and I criticize the NY Times for pushing unhelpful antiscience (like the "Lab Leak Theory" for COVID-19) or fossil fuel-friendly framing (e.g. in this case, "geoengineering" as a climate solution):

Sea ice in the Beaufort Sea (north of Alaska, NW Canada) has likely reached the lowest extent of 2025. However, the ice distribution is unusual, with large areas of open water 74N-78N but ice persisting farther south. This ice will be easily moved by winds in the coming week. #akwx #Arctic #SeaIce
