AR 4246 is one mean looking active region. It technically possesses a 10% chance of an X-flare over the next 24 hours. It also has a beta-gamma-delta magnetic field configuration, the most unstable and complex classification we give to sunspots. We need to monitor this area.

Fucking bullshit. Who wants this? I certainly don’t want to go killing people. Trump’s a serial killer.

Modern American journalism is a cocktail party for the well-heeled so they can rub elbows with the levers of power and slander the poors. They're court stereographers because they want to be, they like their policies, and they want them to win.

if anybody from the middle or lower classes with real journalistic chops sexted a source they'd be shitcanned and marginalized so quickly they'd get concussed

A really cool feature of my game-day previews is that they can double as post-game wrap ups.

Read all about the Pittsburgh Penguins vs the Anaheim Referees last night now!

The Penguins face the Ducks tonight in Anaheim, and it looks to be a slow, painful lesson in accountability.

Check out my game day preview and see if you can spot the moment Saturn starts teaching everyone a lesson.

Windows 10 goes out of support today. My fave useless fact about w10 is that the iconic blue desktop background is a *photograph* - not CGI.

Tiny 'making of' vid here - youtu.be/_2RacX9DgWM...
Three images showing photographers in a studio, standing around a black curtained area with a projector and a 'Windows' logo etched onto a glass pane. The lower image shows a version of the iconic blue windows background, with blue lasers outlining and passing through an angled Windows logos against a dark background.

This reminds me of the sliding stones in Death Valley. But even weirder.

They keep talking about Tomahawks. Has anyone ever said how they would be launched?

ok so like here's a fun little thing i did

it's a feed of people playing music on bluesky

it's moderated - at least until i find an automated way to keep the signal to noise ratio high

to submit posts for consideration just use the hashtag #blueskyjam in the post or video alt-text

when you tie a tie, try to put in a dimple, like so
a black and white photo of a man in a pinstripe worsted suit, white shirt, and textured necktie. the tie has a nice dimple under the knot. a photo of donald trump upside down. there is also a nice dimple on his red tie

my latest investigation for @consumerreports.org is based on months of reporting and 60+ lab tests of leading protein supplements

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

It’s very true. Expensive kit, though, so it won’t be everywhere. I’m going to a small rural rally and I’m not gonna worry.

I don’t think they’ll waste effort trying to collect real names from social media or subpoena or hack RSVPs. But a little box that does the work? It’s been done already.

Most of them are winners so I’m good.

It’s a known fact that IMSI catchers, aka Stingrays, have been deployed by ICE. Their purpose is to identify cell phones in the area. If you are worried you’ll end up on a list (not an outlandish fear) leave your phone at home.

Chickens? Is there a reason for the chickens?
