1. Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao

This book is wild from start to finish just like Iron Widow and it's going to be so hard waiting for book 3
I didn't know it was the 25th anniversary! These books terrified me as a kid but I still loved them and have so much nostalgia for them. I still love and reread them during October
The end of October is always such a weird whiplash feeling because it's like excitement that it's Halloween but then it's November first and it's just "Oh, you again." Pure disgust and disappointment

Mesmerized by the wonder of toe beans. Book from my collection: The Shy Little Kitten by Cathleen Schurr, illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren. 1958.
The bane of my existence are those stupid tiny plastic things that hold tags onto like shirts or keep pairs of socks together
I've gotten my hands on a little bag of candy corn to enjoy tomorrow as is right and proper for Halloween

The crafts I've chosen are a needle point kit and an embroidery kit so I'm going to start work on one of those tomorrow. There were also little paint by number kits that looked fun so I might go back and get one of those too down the road

The Little Vampire Who Couldn't.

Horatio and Zib - some silly stuff originally sketched in a Patreon livestream, prompted by a request for vampire Horatio.
I started learning during 2020 because I needed something to do to help fill the time beyond reading and jigsaw puzzles. I wish I’d kept up with it but I still have my hooks and yarn so I can go back to it. I might try knitting again too
It's all good! Not sure what I'll find or figure out but will report back with what I decide to do
A trip to the big bad arts and crafts store is in order. Planning a trip over there tomorrow since there's not much in the house in the way of crafting supplies
I want to find a craft to do but I don't know what I want to do. I could get back to crochet but I feel like an idiot doing that because everything I learned initially is gone

We are ten months in Trump’s presidency and people are sharing Great Depression recipes like it’s a good thing and the poor should be grateful that with three potatoes and one onion they can make potato and onion soup and their children can die of malnutrition rather than starvation.

I'd certainly like to take that person and show the feral cat problem in my area because people refuse to s/n their cats. This morning while out for a walk I saw a cat who wasn't even fully grown but had already had kittens because of this and felt awful for her. I'm glad TNR groups exist
If the planet had been protected like it was supposed to be then we wouldn't have these monstrous storms due to global warming and it will only get worse
The thought of a Cat 6 is absolutely terrifying and I'm keeping those who are going to be heavily impacted by her in my thoughts
There has never been a Category 6 for hurricanes but I have a feeling that's going to change with Hurricane Melissa and how powerful she is. I know what going through a Cat 5 is like. I've lived it.
I’m the living embodiment of that gif with that girl crying and saying how much she loves cats
Out on my walk and I saw a tortoiseshell mama with her two kittens and they were so cute. The mom was friendly and let me pet her while the kittens hung back a bit watching. I wanted to scoop them up and take them home 😭
Holy shit, if a baseball game I was at lasted even three hours I’d just go home and see what happened the next day
Instead having the "oh no, won't someone please think of the poor metric system" complaint. People's lives are going to be in danger and that's far more important. Even if this person has never experienced a hurricane they at least have to know how dangerous they are. Especially a Cat 5

It annoys me when people say “they’re on SNAP but their hair and nails are done and they’ve got tattoos”. It’s extremely normal to do your own hair and buy press on nails, and tattoos literally last forever. What do tattoos someone got 10 years ago have to do with them needing to eat now
That aside that person deserves some serious side eye for being more concerned about the lack of metric use than the fact that people living in Jamaica and Haiti are going to be facing extensive damage due to this hurricane and it's going to be very bad

Look up and contact your local food bank and check their needs. Their cash usually goes further than your cash because they can buy wholesale and in bulk. Even a single can is better than nothing.
