Whistling when ICE is about to kidnap someone for no reason is incredibly effective. They know what they are doing is wrong and will scatter in the wind when too many witnesses gather.

Reflection of current politics little discussion of what Virginia AG actually does

Increasingly important role in suing (or not suing) Presidential administration

Virginia has not joined lawsuits brought by Dem AGs

Also provides legal advice to state agencies and defends them

And Sears calling Spanberger by her first name continually… I would have turned to her and said ”it’s Mrs. Spanberger to you, thank you.”
sleeparks.bsky.social
Agreed. And Spanberger’s ability to stay focused and not respond to the constant interruptions and talking over her for the most part was impressive. And I wasn’t really warm to her to begin with, but Sears was unhinged.

Earle-Sears talking over spanberger in this Virginia gubernatorial debate is so low class

🧵 In 2025, book censorship in the United States is rampant and common. Never before in the life of any living American have so many books been systematically removed from school libraries across the country.

PEN America has a new report out on banned books, and LAST NIGHT AT THE TELEGRAPH CLUB was the fourth most banned book in the 2024-25 school year. This actually surprised me, but I think it's partly because all the usual suspects have already been banned. When books get banned, they don't return.
penamerica.bsky.social
This 2024-25 school year, book bans affected 3,752 unique titles in 87 school districts nationwide. Some types of books are targeted for removal because of their content; but the climate of censorship that has spread in schools has impacted a wide array of titles written for all sorts of audiences.
Infographic showing the most banned books of the 2024-2025 school year by number of school districts, according to PEN America. The top books listed are 'A Clockwork Orange,' 'Sold,' 'Breathless,' 'Last Night at the Telegraph Club,' 'A Court of Mist and Fury,' 'Crank,' 'Forever,' 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower,' and 'Wicked' with their respective bans ranging from 20 to 17 districts. Includes book cover images and data from PEN America Index of School Book Bans, dated July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025.
