Basically it’s down to denial vs procrastination now.

But really all it takes to refute this whole stupid thing is one word: Katrina.

Even if it only was measured in slurs, are people really going to keep kayfabe about every racist euphemism of the past 30 years? There was a whole goddamn show called “politically incorrect” what do people think was the “political correctness” they were mocking?

If this lie about today’s Dem party were true, then it very much would be the Dem party of my grandfather’s youth.

Not once have I seen an explanation for why teenagers must hear things that upset them in virtue of the unspecified speech-acts being upsetting, nor have I ever seen an explanation for why teenagers will be forbidden to express displeasure with upsetting things.
William Hague: Why I’ll banish ‘safe spaces’ at Oxford
The new chancellor tells Cheltenham Literature Festival that there will be no ‘cancel culture’ and students should expect to hear things that upset them

IF YOU PAY ATTENTION TO ANYTHING TODAY it should be the supreme court. they're hearing a case today that will decide if they *gut the federal law that blocks racial discrimination in voting.* i know that doesn't sound like real life but it is.

Would I, as a student at Oxford, be allowed to stand on a soap box and call for the public flogging of every single racist on campus?

Would that be my right to say?

Or does it only work one way because this sounds awfully like Hague wants the right to say what he wants with impunity.

A major litmus test for any Democratic presidential candidate should be a commitment to vigorously prosecute everyone in the Trump administration.

I don’t see why this is so much to ask. So many of these crimes are clear cut, with public admissions of mens rea.

For some time the church’s position had been that they were silently awaiting Christianity’s arrival. Even if they didn’t know it.

I seriously do not mean this to be a jerk, but this is a topic and dynamic Hungarian political scientists and other researchers like Péter Krekó and Gabor Scheiring have given warnings about this for years.

And if we consider the history of genocide, gas chambers are not the norm. More often, it’s isolating people from the resources they need to stay alive. 👇

Many of the murders in the Armenian Genocide were forced deportations and death marches to inhospitable areas in North Africa and the Middle East.

The German empire murdered over 100,000 Herero and Nama people in Namibia largely by blocking them from leaving the desert. Huge # died of dehydration.

Republicans made a conscious decision to become even more racist after 2012, yes, but they did so in large part because of the realization of the electoral impact of demographic shifts.

Ginni Thomas, wife of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas played a role in the pivot:

Clearly really bad, but honestly the only responsible course of action.

These federal officials are way, way outside even the absurd boundaries sketched by the conservative majority on the Supreme Court.

Same time that Pritzker is telling city and state officials to start arresting and prosecuting federal officials for assaulting Illinois citizens.

OT1H, this is clearly really bad.

OTOH, our federalized design might end up being an absolute godsend.

And while we’re at it:

- Stephen Miller is a sociopath but he’s also a weirdo model UN idiot. He’s not an evil genius.

- Curtis Yarvin is really quite dumb.

- The Nazis were also dumb and incompetent. The trains actually did not run on time!
