ShwirlyGlasses NakaKon 2026 Cosplay Reveal Hints thread!

Hint #1

[hint: the only version I could find of this clip had Italian subtitles, that has nothing to do with the cosplay, no japes, no tricks]

And that goes for other slurs too.

There was an effort to stomp it out around the mid 2000s when I was in high school, but slurs were still thrown casually by some.

As someone that grew up in a Midwest farm town in the late 90s/early 00s, it's this 100%.

Even at Elementary level and all the way to my mid-2000s graduation, I heard the n-word, and saw teachers/admin punish it like it was just "ass" or "damn", despite the kids clearly knowing what it meant.

You are out of your mind if you think young republicans in the early aughts weren’t bigots. They were saying the n-word all the time, too, they just didn’t have group chats to get leaked.
amandamarcotte.bsky.social
My parents' generation was super racist, but they took pains to hide it from us. So a lot of young conservatives in the 90s and early aughts were earnest small government and/or evangelical types.

As I said, the overt racists and radicals had to form their own orgs.

OK, so that wasn't just me.

I remember even partying up with people and it still being far off from "clicking". It's one of my biggest "I dunno what game YOU guys played" across all of gaming anytime someone brings it up as a GoAT-tier FPS.

this is the most like a mike tyson's punch out guy i have ever seen anyone look
Brewers outfielder Sal Frelick making an intense face as he prepares to throw the ball

When Nintendo Power is telling you it's a wash..... yikes. Like, they didn't even try to sugar-coat or "A for effort" it.
shwirlyglasses.bsky.social
I did that a couple times last year, but I also work as a paraprofessional helping SPED kids so being exceptionally tired is a genuine hazard, especially when it's younger kids (which it was for me last year).

Only thing that would've been better is if he did the American Psycho strut with the axe.

I loved the AVGN vids & James seems like a cool dude, but it always feels like when he "goes big" he approaches it the same as his smaller stuff but just scales it up. The AVGN movie, his biography, Rex Viper, etc.

All credit due for shooting his shot, just feels like this is a trend with him now.

Add to it his whole career basically started with a Smash Bros. parody series on Newgrounds. He had a HELL of a cool "full circle" moment to his name. He just needed to be a professional on the most basic fundamental level and dropped the ball.

Just hope there isn't a fire to it. Maybe I'm being touchy but this feels just a degree away from "MJF getting heel heat by not crediting fan artists".

So I'll add that to the list with seeing:

- Relient K playing a cover of Eminem's "Lose Yourself" at a Christian music festival

- Green Day singing "Welcome to Paradise" and a lightning bolt struck as the instruments kicked back in on the chorus.

- "Losing my Religion" in Donkey Konga 2

Doing a music class game to "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is one of my most surrealist music experiences ever.

It'll be after they call up Brady Cook from the practice squad, then somehow there will be this big "Brady Cook should start" movement, even though he'll be barely above 50% on pass percentage and will have, like, 4 TDs and 3 INTs.

The Mizzou fan in me would love that, actually.

Butker should be off the team tomorrow. That was HORRIBLE.

I’m seeing PS3 mentions on my timeline and now am thinking about one of my favorite games for the platform:

PAIN.

I know Goat Simulator does the ragdoll thing really well, but PAIN was unabashed, self-injurious chaos. I genuinely love the game and miss it a lot.

Though I'll admit comparing Daytona to OutRun 2 is a bit unfair. OutRun 2 was much later and is a much different game.

I just was never a big fan of how Daytona controlled or its track design. I thought the others did anywhere from "slightly-" (Manx TT) to "MUCH better" (Sega Rally).
shwirlyglasses.bsky.social
I don't hate Mitsuyoshi's soundtrack, but I think OutRun 2 and Sega Rally's (especially the Saturn arrangement) wins that too. But I know I'm probably in the minority on that.
shwirlyglasses.bsky.social
Even the console Daytonas, including CCE, the Dreamcast port, the XBL version...are just "meh" to me.

I'd take Virtua Racing, Sega Rally 1 and 2 (never played 3), OutRun 2, and even Manx TT (if you can find and get a handle for the arcade cab; it doesn't translate on emulation at all).
shwirlyglasses.bsky.social
If I had a Sega hot take, aside from "A worldwide release in 1994 was the ONLY chance the Saturn could've had against Playstation", it would be that Daytona USA, by SEGA racing game standards, falls short.

It's not bad, and I don't HATE how it's the most popular, but it really shouldn't be IMO.

If you can't come out right now, please don't hate yourself.
One day, the meaning of labels will disappear.

Please love yourself as you are.
The one who can cherish yourself the most is yourself.
Because that is your strength and beauty.
Chiitan loves you

And actually, I didn't know about Demon Turf so I looked up the trailer.

It is now in my Steam cart (I'm about to leave the house or else it'd be bought).

I think most people just see "Bubsy" and go "haha, bad game, haha".
