WP Editor: “The proposed restrictions undercut First Amendment protections by placing unnecessary constraints on gathering and publishing information. We will continue to vigorously and fairly report on the policies and positions of the Pentagon and officials across the government”

THE MOST MARAVILLOSO TIME OF THE YEAR For Maduro, it's become an annual tradition:

The economy’s in free-fall? Declare Christmas. Lost the vote but claiming reelection anyway? Declare Christmas. The U.S. is blowing up boats and threatening stronger action? Declare Christmas

Bracing for war, Venezuela’s Maduro starts Christmas early — again
It’s an annual tradition: Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro, feeling pressure from opponents or enemies, plays Santa. Venezuelans aren’t buying it.

and if you think that's rough, I've heard the rate of "survey professionals" at AAPOR is nearly 100%

More than a third of Lucid (now Cint) respondents in 2019 were "professional" respondents according to a new article in @polanalysis.bsky.social , and that's the conservative estimate

WSJ: President Trump believed his Truth Social post demanding prosecutions of James Comey and other political foes was a private message to his attorney general, and "and was surprised to learn it was public."

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

👀 Marjorie Taylor Greene breaks with Republicans on Obamacare funding, saying she’s not a fan of the law but demands action to prevent a premium hike. “I’m absolutely disgusted that health insurance premiums will DOUBLE if the tax credits expire this year.” She says GOP leaders don’t have a plan.

I'm excited for the public opinion researcher 50 years from now who's going to crack open the ol' Roper poll archives and find this question explaining to respondents what a "tush push" is

poll.qu.edu/poll-release... (poll is of adults in PA)
21. (If professional football super fan, fan or casual fan q17) The tush push is a football play typically used on very short yardage. The quarterback pushes forward with the ball while his teammates push him from behind. Do you think this play should be allowed in professional football or should be banned from the game?

Our Post poll finds 48% of American Jews rate Benjamin Netanyahu's leadership as "poor," up 20 points from a Pew survey in 2020. U.S. Jews also say Netanyahu deserves much more responsibility than Israel for the continuation of the Israel-Gaza war. Read more -> www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

The story cited age differences for emotional attachment to Israel. 62% of Jews under 35 say Israel is vital vs. 88% of those ages 65+, while 47% of younger Jews say they have a lot/some in common with Israeli Jews vs. 62% of seniors. Other age groups are in the middle on all three questions.
