The people who got mad are now handing it to Pro Peace Mr Trump and MTG.

Right that makes sense. Not saying I agree. I think alot of people are really stressed and are just looking for things to freak out over

The doomposts ive seen imply that dems will win but it will be close / wont be a blowout. Meaning that all the atrocities the admin has committed aren't resulting in significant rejection from the public outside what youd expect from typical thermostatic backlash

one thing that has been obvious for a while is this aspect of the authoritarian internationale: they recognize that their allies abroad are not *countries* but *political movements* within foreign countries.

time we liberals woke up and recognized this--because it's the truth.

Or maybe, just maybe, what was obvious in 2024 was correct: Netanyahu fully backed Trump and would not deal with Biden because Trump would give him a free hand to escalate the starvation, bombing, and do full ethnic cleansing. Which he then did, until Netanyahu embarrassed him by bombing Qatar.

There's no world where Netanyahu ends the war for Biden before the election because he wanted Biden to lose.

I think it's wild that Netanyahu completely controls our domestic discourse with willing participants not just on the right, but also apparently on the left

Genuinely don’t think our political discourse is capable of talking about how Donald Trump—*Donald Trump*—just halted an ongoing genocide.

I have strong doubts that the 'ceasefire' will hold and lead to an actual peace deal, but it seems like, maybe, somehow, Trump kinda learned a lesson here...?

There was one. It had Mills up and Planter tied with Collins.

Yes I know thats meaningless right now.

What I think has gotten lost in a lot of the commentary about this in many ppls rush to use it to dunk on Biden is that Netanyahu in particular seems really pleased with this deal which, uh, should tell us some things.
schrunglowe.bsky.social
Anyone thats uncritically handing it to Pro Peace Mr Trump right now is engaging in the same sort of cynical political exploitation of war crimes that he's attempting. You're lying thru your teeth to get cheap dunk points over pols you personally hate.

Im explicitly not doing that? Im saying if anything Biden took way longer than he shouldve to realize he was being played by the right wingers.

Theres a definite angle here that Biden aside from whatever other faults he had was naively optimistic. I think some part of him for a while really believed Bibi was operating in good faith. The man was out of time in alot of ways it really showed

And no thats not a defense of Biden or anything. I just dont buy into the meme that he genuinely got off on watching Palestinians die or whatever gets thrown around on here.

If anything it was an act of cowardly self preservation.

My hot take here is that Afghanistan made the Biden admin extremely adverse to rocking the boat re: foreign policy in the ME. Maybe they couldve been more forceful in reigning Bibi in but there wasn't any appetite to do so after their last major action destroyed their reputation.

I disagree. We need to make the internet even more insufferable.

legitimately i really do wish people would stop mistaking their own major depressive disorder for politics. it would be better for themselves and also the world

I feel like there's just a segment of the population, trans or cis or otherwise, who will always insist that being happy is fundamentally a character flaw that implies you are insufficiently aware of/don't care enough about the world's problems

This looked like Sandman fanart for a sec

The other day Weigel was smarmly posting on here about how no future dem admin will even try enforcing accountability for any present injustices with the implication that anyone that tries will be destroyed by the press

Sorry but if there is one single US political proposition that we have tested to destruction in recent years, it’s the idea that a critical mass of swing voters see democracy vs authoritarianism as a crucial and salient issue in judging Trump. They simply do not! I don’t like it either

I feel like Kreis has many good takes, but yeah this is ridiculous. Democrats absolutely tried to make the election about protecting our democracy, and voters rejected that message bc they were mad about inflation and hate immigrants.
