With his free hand, Bi-Han yanked the head free. As another round of cheers saluted him, he hurled the head at the foot of Mïn Ashå’s throne, and it exploded into a shower of bloody crystals that froze the room into silence.
Mïn glanced down at the frosty pulp beneath him, never losing his amicable countenance. Bi-Han pointed a frostbitten finger at him. “I look forward to fighting you.”
He went back to his seat, the saurian’s green blood still dripping from his armour. Mïn turned his smile to the room and announced, “First blood to Earthrealm! It has begun!”

I'm unfortunately on that "soured the experience" part. I *want* to play, but gods, am I frustrated! What's so hard about having an easier mode there? I really want to enjoy the game, because it's beautiful and the gameplay is really fun, but anyway—congrats again!

Skarlet’s hands readjusted, lacing together to try to comfort the startled babe. Considering again if polite words had any place in the empty tension. She did her best not to outwardly frown, the sharpness in her head still chiseling away. Shadowy shapes so briefly blurring – filtering in a deep red lens – the cowboy’s features softening back into that of a scared teenaged boy.

“Are you alright?”

Her question was met only with a whisper. Something under his breath that she could only make out bits and pieces of… Whatever struggles he weathered now in his own mind were suddenly slipping from his lips.

Her next words are smaller and brittle enough to break. “Sometimes, I wonder what’s real and what isn’t.”
That lands harder than any fury. Harder than a blade to the gut. And stars, it wrecks me.
“Of course I care,” I blurt roughly, and it feels like I have to get it out before the universe takes the chance away. “Of course I do.” My voice catches, the traitorous thing. “But what was I supposed to do, V? Sit around and enjoy myself in paradise while ignoring the endless hardships on my homeworld? While my people bled and starved? While my planet fell apart?” I swallow hard. “I had to act. Doing nothing would have driven me insane by guilt.”
“Well, aren't you just the hero?” she accuses, bridging the distance between us with a glare that could burn holes through me. “You think you know what’s best. What’s right. Do you even realize how arrogant that is?”
The tension between us tightens like a cord about to snap. “And you don’t!?” I fire back in disbelief. “You said it yourself: you’re the Star*Relic. The galaxy's chosen one. You’ve got your shiny destiny and cosmic birthright. Your sacred mission. You can't pretend you don’t know what it’s like to be the one calling the shots for everyone else. Don’t stand there and lecture me about arrogance when your whole existence is centered around your hero complex.”
Her jaw clenches, and for a moment, I brace for a slap. Instead, her voice drops, low and dangerous, venom dripping from every word. “You think I asked for this? To be a clone of some dead race with a messiah complex baked into my bones? Well, I didn't, but I am doing the best that I can with what I have to work with. You think this,” she gestures to herself, gaze honed to a blade, “is about power? About being better than everyone else? Superiority? You're wrong. It’s about doing what’s right, even when it’s hard, even when it means sacrificing what you want for the greater good.”

The kytinn are the insectoid species of Sakathiz, a smaller realm conquered by Outworld. Their hive mind fascinates scholars: kytinn rejoice in each other's joys, suffer each other's pains, and for that, are a truly united people.

And bowing is a huge offence 🤷🏽‍♀️

While Liu Kang and the kytinn representative fought to the rhythm of drums, Johnny and Kai’s encouragements, and the hisses of the other insectoids (particularly aggressive since Liu Kang bowed to them earlier, a serious cultural blunder judging by the fit the kytinn threw, which ended with their leader challenging the monk for combat), Askaly studied Ko’atal, the ajaha—“true ruler”—of the Osh-Tekk.

“Yes, Earth is my home. We are Humans, and until yesterday, when I was abducted by aliens, most humans thought we were alone in the universe.”
“Kowellians again,” Driona comments from the side.
“Oh, I see. Jokesters. And this is how you ended up here?”
“Sorta. They put me in this pod-“
“Hibernation pod,” Driona added helpfully.
“Yeah, that, just as a bunch of uniformed people burst into the room and arrest them. Then I wake up surrounded by aliens and I just ran. Then Driona here finds me, stabs me with a needle so I can actually understand what’s being said and finds that I’m missing some sort of implant?”
“No Identag and no translation nanites? You truly are a virgin race. There are no set non-interference laws, but meddling with species like yours is frowned upon. But that does not answer the question of why you are here, Jennifer. Driona, would you care to explain? Dropping her off with the authorities would have been so much easier without risking a flight in that deathtrap of yours, and would get her home eventually,” Rondu says and turns back towards Driona. I’d be lying if I say I wasn’t relieved.
