No bets like I said, but I think the future might be artists with a moderate understanding of AI creating keyframe-ish art or model input for use in an LLM and constantly updating and refining that.

Kind of like how animators currently work I suppose.

I'm curious if they're actually able to cross the consistency gap. It seems at least part of the issue is fundamental to how LLM generation works. I'm kind of bearish on it but the field is full of novel fixes to weird problems so I'm not making any bets.

I'm a bit bearish on some of the predictions about AI content domination considering there doesn't seem to be a good and reliable solution to content drift yet.

Maybe the tech will get there, but some people working deep in the field think it might just be fundamental to how LLM works.

IMO "they're just token predictors" is true but its important to understand they are token predictors with mathematical training and models so complicated that they can token-generate an entire book. Its true in the same way that a AAA online video game is "just 1s and 0s."

Shame is supposed to function as a kind of warning system, "your community thinks this is really bad so stop doing it" with various harsher consequences being implied.

The death of shame is kind of a byproduct of a generally stable and peaceful society. Wonder if that's inherently cyclical.

Bret Deveraux has a (largely correct) recurring point about how the only thing humans fear more than death is shame and this motivates a lot of pro-social behavior and the increasing shamelessness across human society is kind of a massive problem for that
