Let be be finale of seem.
Godspeed You! Black Emperor of ice-cream.
As with voting, I think if you're only going to limit it at one end then the upper is more justifiable than the lower.
Saying "we need a border and Trump is doing a better job of securing the border" is pretty clearly saying that he *does* like it.

Buyer's dozen: 12.99 + tax
Boxer's dozen: 11 (one on one)
Butcher's dozen: 1, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 (12 with the prime cut)
I mean you can't expect them to understand what that book was about. After all, oldspeakers unbellyfeel Ingsoc.
Also: we should hang out more often! I should come round, or you and Shin should come round here?
Thank you. I'm actually feeling pretty ok today as long as I don't think about anything more long term than the next couple of days. Hope you are doing ok.

You'll pry these Oxford commas out of my cold, dead, third thing hands
"Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence" is actually quite a comforting thing to adopt, because it allows you to believe there's far less malice in the world than there actually is.
Feel like there's a big element of "but if that were true, it would mean that none of them are the good guys, and the whole system is run by awful cunts - which would be so horrible to believe I'd rather not, never mind the evidence."
If they moved left nobody even vaguely paying attention would believe them.

This is an utterly nonsensical way to report the really relieving news that Plaid Cymru, a party which espouses all sorts of liberal values including trans rights, etc. (and which isn't even mentioned in this headline!!!) won the election by a 47% landslide, well ahead of Reform as well as Labour.
Amazing
Come on Phil, are you suggesting there was some sort of evidence Starmer didn't have loyalty *before* he became PM?

Surely if that were true someone Important would have noticed it, not just a bunch of unserious scum.

Let me tell you a story (before the ship explodes):

Lord Vaux told the Lords: “This would make it lawful for a DWP officer – not a police officer, but a civil servant – to enter your home, seize your belongings and forcibly hold you down while doing so.”

absolutely rancid, inhumane stuff from this government, a bottomless pit of disgusting ideas
And yet, of course, the answer to that is "Oh but you know the ones we mean"
As I say often to my own therapist: it feels completely insane to witness X and just go on living my life, but equally insane to uproot and destroy my own life trying to deal with having been forced to witness X.
Or, alternatively, I want to 'punish' both of them for poisoning our discourse and promising cruel right-wing policies, with the 'punishment' of not being in power.

Whichever framing you use applies equally to both of them, though.
Why is voting against Reform phrased as the pragmatic 'keeping them out', and voting against Labour as the emotive 'punishing them'?

I want to keep both those parties out of power, because they're both horrible right wing parties and I'm a leftist.
To be clear, this isn't me saying Jack *should* side with Earth; he's just on record as being a devoted Earth-loyalist.
Ok and that would be relevant if we were talking about a politician proposing policy and trying to get elected, but that's not the context of the conversation.

The dialogue is a whole other thing but the bit about "fuck you shoot me I'll die for this shit" and the reaction is the crux here, from Gandhi's time on down, no authoritarian in history ever knows how to respond to this and it's why it beats them whenever deployed
"Man goes scorched earth on ICE agents kidnapping people in his hometown."

Well, basing it on an actual calculation of what it will buy would seem more sensible to me than pegging it to current incomes. But if we *are* using current incomes, the mean seems much better than the median.
And the "omg government waste" crowd think *any* amount of spending on making people's lives better is bad. They're currently destroying the entire country on that basis. They don't need us to give them an excuse! So we might as well propose what we actually want instead of compromising.
