This weekend was glorious.

Squeaked out baking in an oven that was sort of heating consistently.

May every weekend through the end of the year be this refreshing.

Not pictured:
Sorted closets
Greenery going up for the end of the year festivities
Laundry done
Clean floors & rugs
Cat snuggles

2 large and 3 small sourdough loaves.
The flat loaf in the front on the left was when the oven was dropping temperature this morning.
It got itself together for the other bakes.
Will get it checked out this week, but the baking for the week is done!

A day well spent

And yet the weekend chore list remains substantial.

I’m grateful for another day off and we have interesting things planned for tomorrow.

I won’t tell anyone else what to do.

For me?
If I can’t afford it I’ll go without and figure out which CEOs lawn to dump my body on when I run out of money.

The health insurance industry is the problem, giving the insurance company more money solves nothing.

If access to healthcare is going to be blocked due to unaffordable insurance there will be a lot of us who have to pay cash.

Why give it to the greedy insurance companies first?

The Prosperity Gospel folk don’t care about anyone who isn’t wealthy & the insurance company execs sure don’t.

Whelp, it’s official. In 2026 with a marketplace plan, our family of 4 will spend $23,381 for the year on premiums alone. This doesn’t cover the adults’ teeth and eyes. GREAT COUNTRY GREAT SYSTEM!

Over 71 million Americans are paid less than a living wage, and are forced into social safety nets like SNAP.

If you think too many people are receiving SNAP benefits, don’t shame them.

Shame their employers paying them poverty wages and forcing taxpayers to subsidize the rest.

this is something that individual members of Congress could do tomorrow. The government is shut down so they could use their district offices. I suggested in January that they turn those offices into full on community centers where people could find each other re: mutual aid etc...

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

If people were paid a living wage there would be less in need.

If home prices and rent were not greedily high…

If the wealthy paid taxes instead of cheating their way out of them…

If we had universal health care…

But that requires compassion and empathy and no greed, so… here we are.

TROPICAL UPDATE🌀 Tropical Storm #Melissa will likely become a hurricane over the weekend, perhaps slowly taking aim on Jamaica as a Cat 4 early next week.
