More curling. Pros this time though. And beer too, obviously.
Beautiful stuff from Woltemade.
I was thinking about going to bed but a fire a couple blocks away suddenly has me wide awake.

The good news is it was under construction, so at least nobody was inside.
Our Friday night curling league kicked off tonight. And also Friday night beer drinking at the curling club.
After Game 2 I just wanted the series to get back to Toronto. But having had the lead in the eighth inning, just getting back to Toronto doesn’t seem quite as good.
That was some ugly pitching.

I briefly logged in to Edmonton mayoral candidate Tim Cartmell’s zoom town hall tonight. I logged out shortly after he talked about how bad his council colleagues have been to him for the past 4 years before he then started talking about how he’s really good at working as part of a team. 🙄
I swear to god, I sometimes think Bouchard is trying to give me an anyeurism.

Looking at the money going to Cartmell, it’s not the UCP connection that worries me. It’s the money coming in from developers, BILD and the OEG. Media should be looking at which things these groups lobby for, and who votes in their favour. Start with the recent CRL/outdoor concert venue decisions.
Receiving campaign donations from people who have also donated to the UCP isn’t inherently a bad thing. But issuing a statement about transparency while sharing misleading information absolutely is.

For those of you keeping score, 18-22 year-old students calling for an end to slaughter in Gaza are so racist they need to be expelled or deported, but 24-35 year-olds celebrating Hitler, rape, and, um, racism are just kids being kids so chill.

Also, racism is over so no need for Voting Right Act.

At this rate Duffy is going to bring back leaded gasoline.
Sean Duffy: "We are gonna save billions of dollars by getting rid of the fuel economy standards that are set way too high, that no combustion engine can meet, costing each car to the tune of thousands of dollars for the end consumer. We're in the process of getting rid of those rules."
Pro tip: if you’re completely full of shit, maybe don’t include details that can be easily fact-checked.

That was a pretty good one to have gone to though.
Might have said that when I clicked the button to purchase.
This will be Grey Cup number eleven for me. Nine for Em. Lots of good times in those trips.
I guess we’re going to Winnipeg this November. I’m sure this is a decision I won’t be questioning later on.
Bingo. The province hasn’t shown any willingness to work with the City, so what exactly is the next Council supposed to do? It sure seems like Edmonton could take steps to address their concerns and they would just ask for more.
An improved relationship with the province would be great. However, it’s the province, not the City of Edmonton, that has strained the relationship. Unless the province has a change of heart, things aren’t likely to improve anytime soon.

very funny that JD Vance has so little to do with his time that he goes on podcasts to defend 30-year-old men for saying how much they love Hitler
JD Vance dismisses Young Republicans who in a group chat said "I love Hitler" and joked about slavery and rape as "a bunch of kids" who "told stupid jokes" and adds that "most of the stupid things I did when I was a teenager and young adult, they're not on the internet."

New, from me: I break down all that is happening with the shutdown.
Shutdowns are bad. But only Trump and Russ Vought are brave enough to ask: what if shutdowns aren’t painful enough? How can we use this as an opportunity to target our political enemies? 🧵

"We keep offering the same thing and they keep saying no. Our offer is awesome and they're idiots for not accepting it. We do want to continue with negotiations though."

That's basically a summary of the finance minister's comments.
The finance minister's quotes in the story leave me with the impression that he has a different definition of negotiation than the average person. It comes across as "we're happy to negotiate as long as they accept our offer" which, you know, isn't a negotiation.
