Thank you! it was the best birthday I have had in a very long time. I completely exhausted myself but saw a tonne of people I care about, most of whom I never get to see, and some of whom had travelled a long way to see me. It meant a lot.

The cat was indeed happy to see him, and Blake scooped Oscar up into his arms, kissing him and going over to the cupboard that had his treats.
Sam touched Solo's arm to hold him back as he went to follow Blake.
"Is he really OK?" she asked with a low voice, her eyes full of worry.
No, would have been the truth. But Sam must know that. She was asking something different - maybe for some specific way in which Blake was OK that she could use for reassurance.
"He's free," Solo said. "Really free this time."
Sam frowned, but she nodded.

No 'decor' in Synthetic Agency, but I think this description is as close as it gets.

Blake’s living room and kitchen formed a large open plan area on the ground floor. Between the kitchen island and his sofa was a workout zone. He stopped and stared at his free weights.
“What a fucking monumental waste of time.” He’d spent hours working out. Every week. For what he supposed must have been his whole life. He’d been proud of his physique. “What a joke!”
His shape was built out of synthetic skin over synthetic muscles. Plastic and wires and fuck knew what else that was anything but organic or changeable. He couldn’t ‘lose’ his shape by slobbing out, and he sure as hell couldn’t improve on it either.
