A few weeks ago, Minneapolis for the Many made social media posts and emails describing Jim Rubin, of Mint Properties, as a “negligent” landlord and stated that he “is singlehandedly responsible for hundreds of property violations.” We retract those statements and sincerely apologize to Mr. Rubin. He has never been held negligent in his duties as a landlord by a court, nor is it fair to say he is personally responsible for every property violation found at his company’s properties. Mr. Rubin has a history of purchasing, renovating, and operating older buildings which often includes inheriting major maintenance backlogs. Mr. Rubin’s efforts to create naturally occurring affordable housing in Minneapolis are laudable and much appreciated. Minneapolis for the Many regrets the implication that Mr. Rubin could be considered a “slumlord” or “negligent landlord.”

The Minnesota Star Tribune requested records of Frey’s phone calls and texts between Oct. 23 — the day a Black man named Davis Moturi was shot by his neighbor — and Oct. 28, the day Frey defended the police’s handling of the case.

But the mayor’s office said it had no such records, even though the mayor’s office said he and the police chief were in regular communication that week. The mayor had texted and called Star Tribune reporters and editors regarding coverage.

After the Mayor vetoed the Labor Standards Board, he had a letter read out loud in our council chambers where he said he would bring a proposal forward together in January 2025 with a unified vision and that the work “doesn’t end here."

Minneapolis is a union town! Workers deserve a living wage and an affordable home. Mayor Frey turned his back on workers when he vetoed the Labor Standards Board and proposed gutting co-enforcement. As Mayor, I'll champion workers, and ensure our workforce can stay in Minneapolis.

The way that Taylor has been out-reporting the Strib is both a massive credit to Taylor and an embarrassment to the state’s largest media outlet. The levels of completeness and factuality in Taylor’s reporting is truly impressive.

It would be nice if the editors at the Strib were paying attention.

at the mpls for the many press conference both mayor frey's campaign spokesperson and all of mpls staffer were there, handing out pieces of paper to the media with i presume their talking points. and they aren't supposed to be coordinating, but they can do this right in front of the media
