Halloween is near! It's time to post this marvellous articulated Roman skeleton, presumably meant to be a reminder to enjoy life to the fullest, since pleasure ends irrevocably with death.
In Petronius’ Satyricon, the host of a dinner party brings out a small skeleton with moveable...🧵1/2

Hello to all lovers of poetry, poetic prose. To the romantics and the political.

I have written this book. It is my third book and my first independently published book.

It is unlike any of my other writing. It is not for the traditionally-minded. You might like it if you like the surreal.

'Spirit'

A little bit of calm, on the stormiest of days. Those in the UK and Ireland will know what I’m talking about.

Stay safe.

Literally one step at a time, clutching on to banister. Like a snail.

Re the perimenopausal sheen, the other day in class I was dripping, my makeup melted off and I just sat there in agony and discomfort glistening and wet. Highlight of my week. Also sympathy about the stairs because I have mobility issues and the uni library is on a million levels. Up/down. UP. DOWN

Heather Humphreys is a former Minister for Arts who made a serious funding misjudgement during her tenure; Catherine Connolly’s support for artists offers a contrast, writes Toner Quinn.

Ladies and gentlepuffins we are floating in space.
One small step for puffin, one giant leap for puffinkind, with more Jill McDonald joy for my Sputnik Sweethearts.
Colourful cartoon cover of a 1968 Puffin Post magazine, in which a pink space rocket emits fierce fiery jets of flame from three booster rockets which are powering it.
The rocket is patterned in black flowers and orange pink and yellow zigzags speeds through a black starry sky with a big shiny sliver satellite spinning through space.
The rocket is crewed by three puffins in yellow space suits sitting at porthole windows and three on space walks outside tethered to the rocket by squiggly blue cables.
Above it, another rocket, this one striped red and yellow zooms across bearing the title Puffin Post in white, hand drawn capital letters outlined in black.
The style of the illustration is very much 1960s psychedelia for primary children and it gives a real sense of an unfolding scene in motion
