Inspired by all the amazing fungi photos posted here recently, I took my camera on a stroll through an Exmoor wood.

Snap these last places up quick!
I did this trip a couple of years back and it is (so far) the best Orchid trip i have done ( and I have done a few)
Best guides. Best Orchids. Best food and drink, and best guests. Very fond memories.

With another place secured by a guest yesterday, our Orchids of Rhodes tour now moves to being a guaranteed departure in 2027.

The ultimate #orchid tour of Rhodes, with leaders @dunnjons.bsky.social & @thenewgalaxy.bsky.social, may be 18 months away, but it's starting to fill up already!

For #AnOrchidADay:

A sickly yellow White Helleborine, Cephalanthera damasonium probably var. chloritica.

From 2018. The plant appeared once since, but the whole wood lost all orchids, White Helleborines and Bird's Nest #Orchids, probably due to snails and slugs in the winter of 2023.

Good morning, and welcome to the weekend!

A little #bloomscrolling joy from Cyprus to start the day - island endemic orchids Ophrys kotschyi and Orchis troodi.

We see both on our annual Orchids of Cyprus tour - filling up fast now, just 2 places remain to join us there in March 2026. (1/2)

For #AnOrchidADay:

The rarest native Kent #Orchid of them all: Burnt (Tip) Orchid, Neotinea ustulata.

One of only three plants that I know of in the county.

This seems to be a female Ichneumon extensorius wasp that I found in my back garden today in Wadebridge. There's only 1 prior record for it in Cornwall from 1906, so any knowledgable insect person's input would be most welcome.

That's us heading for home now after a resoundingly successful Autumn Exotica in Andalusia tour, with all the butterfly targets (and a huge bonus!) found, plus some fine dragonflies and birds too. We can't wait to return next year - and hope you might join us.
