Gastrodia lacista - Potato Orchid

Despite a rather bland common name, this orchid is far from dull!

Growing in shady forests in the south of WA it is a myco-heterotroph, getting all its nutrients from a fungal partner rather than photosynthesis 🌿🍄

This is my favourite wee beastie discovered whilst churchcrawling through Kent.

This is a Theow at All Saints, Hollinbourne. Wiki says: "Theow, also called thos, thea or thoye, is a hybrid heraldic beast, represented by a wolf with goat's hooves"

Next delivery from @weebeershop.bsky.social , Thomas Hardy Ale Historical Ale and Special reserve.

I once paid 600DKK, or over £60 in 2014 for a bottle of 2008 vintage Hardy Ale in Aarhus.

Was worth it.

Will keep these as the best before date is end of 2038!
