Unpaid ad, no kickbacks, promise. Decided after doing research on tech moguls pushing AI in schools, @aft.org supporting them, I gotta donate to @eff.org. Hope you do too. (You can pass on the gift if you want.)

This is why DeSantis wants CPHE as the new accrediting agency: to create a safe space for his ideological vandalism while guaranteeing that federal funds continue to support his screwing over of the people of Florida. Do we want this for North Carolina? Hell no! @aaup.org #highered

Who could have guessed
ProPublica identified 20 segregation academies in Mississippi that received almost $10 million over six years through a state-funded program.

At least eight opened with an early boost from state-funded vouchers in the 1960s.

Segregation Academies in Mississippi Are Benefiting From Public Dollars, as They Did in the 1960s
ProPublica identified 20 schools in the state that likely opened as segregation academies and have received almost $10 million over the past six years from the state’s tax credit donation program.

I found this conversation about Atomic Habits a worthwhile counterpoint to some of the argument in the text!

The AFL-CIO should start throwing some money towards labor journalism. If it was done right (i.e. with them accepting that journalists must have full editorial control over what’s published, whether or not union leaders like what they have to say) it could really have such a hugely positive impact

We must note that all the condemnation of Tucker Carlson platforming Nick Fuentes has been about anti-Semitism and there has been an alarming and revealing silence around his anti-Black racism and white supremacy. When the head of the Heritage Foundation apologized, he only cited anti-Semitism.

School lunches get a bad rap, but they're healthier than the average packed lunch. And making them free for all amplifies academic and health benefits for low-income kids by removing stigma/shame.

So I'm glad Colorado voted to raise taxes on high-income households to make school meals free for all.

You can’t celebrate Duke while pushing Durham out. We know the truth: Duke didn’t build Duke alone. Now we’re demanding affordable housing, investment in our schools, and respect for the people who made Duke possible.

I am not arguing that Katyal should not be able to do his job.

I am arguing that his choices should disqualify him from being nominated to SCOTUS.
Re: Katyal's unprincipled choice of clients and cases – I also respect Katyal's right to earn a living. I respect his discretion in selecting cases. He does not have to consistently side with corporations over workers, but chooses to do so.
Re: Kavanaugh – Katyal did not endorse Kavanaugh, but he spoke highly of him during a Heritage Foundation event during the nomination process. Sen. Thune used these statements to rally support for Kavanaugh before his confirmation hearing:
Re: Gorsuch – Katyal wrote the linked Op Ed and both introduced and supported Gorsuch during his confirmation hearing:

We'd like to know what you're seeing regarding students' freedom to read in North Carolina public schools! Please take a moment to fill out the following survey: bit.ly/4oPURcz
Katyal has also strongly supported Gorsuch:

and spoke highly of Kavanaugh:

No Democrat should ever nominate Katyal to the Supreme Court.
Katyal has long sided with corporations over workers:

I want the rest of us to know this.

I want folks to speak to their lives , to the diversity of who we are, the sustenance of our future and the immediacy of this moment

That if you start talking and seeing and LISTENING to people

who work ?

We can do this
Can’t stop thinking about all the robber baron fucks that held secret meetings and spent MILLIONS AND MILLIONS in bribes and campaign investments and attack ads and media manipulation trying to tank Mamdani currently having the dawning realization that their money is completely and utterly useless.
Creating controversy around professors is D'Abrosca's entire beat. He keeps trying to get folks fired. Sorry to see you were targeted!
From Sep 27 to Oct 7, Peter D'Abrosca at Fox News wrote six articles attacking the same UNC professor. He leads campaigns to manufacture outrage against university professors who have supported community organizing against fascists.

D'Abrosca is paid as a Fox News journalist.

Who is D'Abrosca?
Thread on how the rightwing has weaponized outrage to baselessly attack a professor at UNC:

Oh dang! I misinterpreted the first link.

The 245k seems to be the total pool of potential ballots / registered voters for today's elections in Guilford Co. This number is less than the 385k of registered voters in the county since many may not have had municipal elections today.
Are votes in Greensboro down overall?

I did not find the city-specific numbers, but it seems like 245k of 385k registered voters in Guilford Co (roughly 63.6%) voted in this election.

Heads up: The author of this piece has close ties to White nationalism and has an extensive history of bigoted statements!

D'Abrosca has been relentlessly targeting university professors through his work at Fox, attempting to create controversy to get specific people fired.
