Years ago I interviewed Tomonobu Itagaki at E3. I said: "Isn't this weird? We're in a room in a fake building inside a giant building so we can talk about *pretend* buildings you made."

He put on his sunglasses and said: "I too think of myself as a warrior."

RIP Tomonobu Itagaki; he made some rad games, and he was a truly fun and compelling interview subject. I'll never forget a time when he mentioned that I'd given VF4 a higher score than DOA3, and then gave me an insanely difficult pop quiz about VF minutiae (like frame counts) that I utterly bombed

according to a notice on his Facebook page, Tomonobu Itagaki has passed away at the age of 58. No details were shared, but the statement expressed his misgivings about “failing to produce a new game for the fans”

when i was a kid i didn't understand how this worked and i thought every CD that was manufactured had to have a monster put onto it. like they'd go up to ringo starr or whatever and ask him what monster he wants and he'd say "ouhh this DEfinitely has a "Battle Rocks" quality to it! peace and love.!"
