You can’t heal what was designed to harm.
This system wasn’t built to serve us. But now, as it’s breaking, it’s our job to rebuild it. From the ground up. For all of us.
Thank you for the conversation @replsimon.bsky.social ✊🏿

Today we mark Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

We recognize this Bay Area is Ohlone land, and that the work of sovereignty, repair, and respect is not in the past tense.

History and our future demands nothing less.

Every single day, Oakland produces so much joy, beauty, and culture. Oakland's future is still being written, and I'm excited to continue working on the next chapter of our city's history with Mayor Lee.

This week, I attended the Mayor the annual State of the City address to hear about all of the progress Mayor Barbara Lee and her team have made and the work that lies ahead as we continue to improve economic development, public safety, support for small businesses, health care, and more.

Now in Congress, I carry that fight forward. Every girl deserves safety, education, health care, and the freedom to decide her own future. The fight for girls is the fight for justice, dignity, and a democracy that truly belongs to all of us. #FreeTheGirls

I began this journey at the Young Women’s Freedom Center where I learned that liberation does not ask for permission, it demands change.

On International Day of the Girl, I celebrate the courage & brilliance of girls who keep building a better world with imagination and fire. For thirty years I have worked shoulder to shoulder with young women fighting their way out of poverty, trafficking and incarceration with power, beauty & grit.

October is Filipino American History Month, marking the first recorded arrival of Filipinos to the U.S. in 1587.

This month, we recognize the generations of Filipino Americans whose hard work, resilience, and contributions are woven into the fabric of our nation.

And with the news of long overdue ceasefire and hostage exchange, I'm calling on Sec. Rubio to continue to negotiate their safe return & the entry of unrestricted humanitarian aid to Gaza.

Their detainment and reported mistreatment in Israeli prisons was alarming. I am heartened to see that American detainees have been released...

This week, I joined my CA colleagues to demand that Secretary Rubio secure the safe return of U.S. citizens from the Global Sumud Flotilla who were detained in Israel. These activists, including a number of CA residents, were simply trying to deliver desperately needed aid to starving Palestinians…

I’m carrying your voices with me as we fight for a funding bill that protects the health and dignity of every person.

I’ve been meeting with unions and working families across CA-12 to hear your stories and needs during this Republican shutdown. People across our community are clear: health care is not optional.
replsimon.bsky.social
The dedication of frontline health care workers is the foundation of the high-quality care our neighbors receive every day.

I encourage Sutter and SEIU to continue to meet at the bargaining table in good faith and in a manner that reflects the collective bargaining rights guaranteed under the NLRB.

I am carrying their stories back to Washington as we push for a spending bill that protects jobs, health care, and the future of our communities. Working families deserve respect, stability, and a government that stands with them.
