Damn, I just saw the news from the Bulls: our legend Bob Love has passed away. He was the second Bull to have his number retired and the first in my life. Rest in Peace to Butterbean, #10!

#BREAKING A federal judge say she will grant "in part" a request by the state of Illinois for a temporary restraining order against the deployment of National Guard troops into the state.

U.S. District Judge April Perry is still ruling and has not outlined the details of her order.
Perry: "I'm going to issue an oral ruling."
I just found this. Thank you @pointlessexercise.com for the writeup, but especially the part at the end that I've highlighted here. That's the subtext of what I discussed with Dan and Matt: that everyone needs to think a bit more about how we get our information.

Tomorrow's post today and it's free! -- Kyle Tucker's still hurt, Sammy looks back on two monumental homers and Dan Bernstein puts his new pod to good use by having Jack Silverstein dismantle the Tyler Dunne-Caleb Williams nonsense. www.pointlessexercise.com/can-the-cubs...
Can the Cubs activate Sammy?
And, how not to report about anything you want people to actually believe

I turned 8 in '89!

2005 was just something else. We were spared a bad Hawks team because of the lockout, but Sox won the World Series, Bears and Bulls had incredible "back from nowhere" seasons, the Illini almost won the title and the mid Cubs had Derrek Lee going for the triple crown.
Thanks for reading! '89 had the Cubs obviously. Bulls had a great postseason but fewer wins than '88. Bears were a disaster. Hawks and Sox were way under .500.

Why do you take '89?
September 11, 2005

The Bears opened 2005 in Washington D.C. on the 4th anniversary of 9/11. Emotional day.

Washington snuck past us 9-7. Thomas Jones scored our one TD. 4th round rookie QB Kyle Orton started his career. And Lance Briggs clotheslined Patrick Ramsey.

After just one day, this is one of @danbernstein.bsky.social's most watched episodes! #5 overall, #4 not counting his intro.

The feedback has been really cool. Glad more people are talking about how journalism works. Bear Down!

My father was my first editor, and even into my 20s he used to red-line my copy into oblivion. I told my students one year, "You think I'm tough? Here's what my dad just sent me!" :)

As a former teacher, and the son of a teacher, I appreciate this :)
As a teacher, I appreciate someone trying to educate others without talking down to them. This was a masterclass from @readjack.bsky.social

Well done.
[email protected] takes the Caleb Williams story head-on. Is it at all credible?

Really good stuff by @readjack.bsky.social on how that Caleb Williams piece was severely lacking journalistic integrity. Shame on the media members who should know better but boosted it anyway.

The analysis here might be a little homer-informed, but it actually has me backing away from the ledge a little bit

This is a very, very good listen. Jack Silverstein has proven his bona fides repeatedly over the years and it shows.

I’m watching this now. It’s a nice reminder of why I think so highly of @readjack.bsky.social. Bears fans should give this a watch.
I appreciate that. I think it's imperative that journalists do the job correctly, AND that journalists explain the job. I try to always share and explain great examples of doing the job and bad examples of doing the job.
Thanks Chris!
Jack M Silverstein @readjack.bsky.social gives a great lesson on media literacy and how readers can and should judge sports reporting.
