1. Many of you have seen a graph purporting to show trans identification has decreased in recent years.

Matt Walsh and Elon Musk celebrated it as a victory over "transgenderism."

Turns out, the entire graph is based on an egregious math and statistics error.

Fact Check: No, There Is Not A New Survey Showing Trans Identity Is Decreasing
The claim, which originates from far-right professor Eric Kaufmann, appears to have made a glaring error: the survey actually shows more people have come out, not fewer.

Another Wednesday, another post. Some excellent books in this round of reviews, including Ada Palmer's 'Inventing the Renaissance' and Vajra Chandrasekera's 'Rakesfall', both well worth reading.

The next comic is about: video rentals in the 90s, niche movies, a deer.
I think probably the latter. Le Guin I think is very prone to that kind of reduction
Man, I really love this photo. Thank you, my friend 💐

A white person wearing black clothes and a black tricorn hat stands in front of a chain link fence, their hands in their pockets. They are smiling, and the tricorn is adorned with a large cockade in the colors of the trans pride flag.
It's hard to articulate what and how much this movie means to me, and why, but it is a lot.

Neon Genesis Evangelion premiered on this day thirty years ago. Angel Attack, the first episode, will be the focus of today's posts.

The closest I can think of is Cronenberg's Spider, based on the novel by Patrick McGrath, which has the adult version of the character looking through the window of his childhood home to show the flashbacks (it's also an underrated movie which I highly recommend)

On Leonard Cohen's birthday, please enjoy this undated photo of the man himself buying cheetos at a 7-Eleven

Read any good poems recently?
This was such a fun piece!
New, on Heat Death! The esteemable @tansyg.bsky.social of the GOING ROGUE podcast swung by with an absolutely crackerjack piece on the costuming of Star Wars and the politics of how we dress.

Loved editing this one.
