Nobody wants it as a story but I have multiple NYPD sources who voted for Mamdani, are eager for his win in November, and who say their colleagues quietly feel the same.

They like that he wants NYPD to focus on crime, not quality of life enforcement.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.
"
Today in @TheFP our @Olivia_Reingold talks to the cops who say they will walk if Zohran Mamdani is elected in November:”

This is true, and…

It also reflects the assymetry in media. RW media trumpet every GOP/Trump achievement as a glorious success, because that is their job.

Actual journalists see puffing up those in power as the opposite of their job.

The hostage release is a reminder of how bad the Dems are at politics. Not only did Biden refuse to force this deal on Netanyahu & thereby help Harris win, but most people aren’t even aware that Biden got way more Israeli hostages (over 100) released with his 2023 ceasefire than Trump did with his.

Maybe the choice is which chapters best make your case? It sounds like life writing might be crucial, but here’s a radical thought by the unread: maybe cut TWO chapters and integrate the life writings as an illustrative throughline in the book?

The Middle East is being conned just like America has been conned.

None of what Trump is saying about the Israel-Gaza war being over is true.

None of the agreements he claims have been made have been made, besides a single hostage deal.

He’s lying to the world, and much of the world believes him.

“When they talk about the mixed-race population in the U.S., they don’t include me there, they include me in the category of Hispanic. So the fact that I am native to the Americas gets lost.”

The 2017 protests against Republican plans to repeal the ACA & cut Medicaid were led by disabled people who put their bodies on the line to prevent an outcome that would have been devastating for disabled people. And this corrupt twit is talking about his own PTSD? Give me a break. #IllnessPolitics

REPORTER: Do you support repealing Obamacare and what's your healthcare plan?

MIKE JOHNSON: We worked on repealing and replacing Obamacare back in 2017. I still have PTSD from the experience. We know that American healthcare needs dramatic reform. We have lots of ideas.

(So, no plan)

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...
Documents Allege a Federal Agent at Portland ICE Threatened to Shoot an Ambulance Driver
Feds delayed medics who had come to pick up an injured protester. Then, according to confidential incident reports, the agents became aggressive.

Just a reminder “The COCR’s initial conclusion of bias was overturned by a ruling by a Faculty Senate Committee, Cheyfitz said. Despite the committee's ruling, 👉🏾Provost Kavita Bala moved to reopen the case and place it before a new hearing panel and ultimately President Michael Kotlikoff.”

I'm cleaning up my shop and found two nearly-finished iridescent trans flag stained glass suncatchers that I had forgotten about but went ahead and wrapped up tonight. I'd love to find them homes — they're pretty big (11.5"x7.5"), $200 each. DM if you're interested! 💖

Obvs my most unhinged literary opinion is that the Great Gatsby is a terrible, over-wrought, self-indulgent, whole-hearted celebration of American capitalism. But I am indeed correct about this!

Hey now, don't you think the populace of THE FREEST COUNTRY ON EARTH wouldn't recognize and viscerally reject any concept of authoritarianism? I mean, unless that was all just propaganda designed to keep the populace complacent with their ever-diminishing rights, but that can't be the case, right?

Not trivial! It’s annoying to the listener but theft of the artists’ work. I spoke with someone famous who talked about all the time their lawyers spend on cease & desist on this kind of theft that spreads like kudzu

trivial, but does anyone know how to deal with spotify playing versions of songs that you love but are clearly ai generated and added the real artist’s name as if they did this “cover”? there has to be a mobile solution

Very cool and awesome that Congress can pass a law which functions as intended but 60 years later an unelected, unaccountable 9-member superlegislature can just say "Nah" and poof the law doesn't exist anymore.
