This week either ends with a shutdown or a bipartisan act of congress. This is my attempt to summarize what the GOP is doing, what leverage the Dems have, and all the ways this could play out. As always, we end the newsletter with lots of practical action items!

What is the first thing you do after a long power outage? Charge everything. What do you do when someone turns out a light unexpectedly after having had a long power outage? Laugh at your spouse when they flinch and ask "did the power go out again" while looking at a little lamp.
I can't speak for my friends and family but I am happy to share my own knowledge and experiences.

The thing is, when we had high marginal tax rates on the rich, the rich still had yachts and second and third houses and fancy vacations and really good schools for their kids, so, yes, I think most people who are really very rich would do just fine, and the rest of the US would do better than now.
You are a beneficiary of Republican tax cuts then?

How would you feel about bringing the 94% tax rates on the rich, back again?

I understand in today's dollars, the 94% will kick in above $3 million a year. Could you maintain your lifestyle on $3 million a year? Could Musk?

Eventually. There are many Jews, Iranians, and others who have died or are still living under racist regimes that will tell you that eventually isn't fast enough.

In light of everything happening, I wrote about how the KKK in the 1920s felt unstoppable, about the people that fought against them anyway, and about how fascism always fails. dansinker.com/posts/202…

Courage is contagious. Read and share this letter.
NEWS: Hagan Scotten, one of the SDNY attorneys prosecuting Eric Adams' case, has resigned ... and is blasting the Trump Justice Department on the way out.
I've always given everything to whoever transported me, including my wedding ring. I kept on enough clothes to cover my body and that's it. I also tie the bag with a specific kind of knot so I know if it has been opened. I learned this after the first time something went missing.

It has been genuinely inspiring to see so much organic grassroots energy this week. If you attended a 50501 protest yesterday and are looking for a next national day of action, there are worker-led events in cities across the country tomorrow. Check the link to find one near you.

I'm hearing that right now, Trump is firing researchers at VA.

Trump & Elon need to reverse course on this IMMEDIATELY—this across-the-board firing threatens to decimate so much of the lifesaving research our veterans depend on: suicide prevention, burn pit exposure, and more.
