Coasting. Just offshore at Birling Gap, East Sussex.
The white chalk cliffs known as the Seven Sisters, as seen from the perspective of a sea swimmer, the viewpoint half submerged in the sea.

Sold as seen: “used to describe goods that are sold in their existing condition, with no promise that they will work well”.

Praise indeed! 🤣

See, I told you it was a good session!

Currently on BHR, we have a show from the archive: ‘Funderground #69’ with Venetian Snares, Daftberk, Renaldo & The Loaf, Stump, Gong and many more.

That will be followed by a new edition of ‘Book Drop’, with a reading of the poem ‘The Purse-Seine’ by Robinson Jeffers.

The painting is ‘Near Whitby, Yorkshire 1972’ according to ‘Edward Burra: The Unquiet Landscape’ (gerryco23.wordpress.com/2012/04/28/e...)

Also popped into the Edward Burra exhibition, who I knew even less about. His work inspired by the Spanish Civil War and WWII is grotesque and quite disturbing, while his later landscapes are often uncanny and deeply hauntological. Both shows are on until this Sunday 2/2

Better late than never, I saw the Ithell Colquhoun exhibition Tate Britain yesterday. A British surrealist and mystic (she seemed to be a member of every occult society going), her use of colour, abstract forms and dreamlike/sexualised landscapes is often stunning 1/2

It’s was hard to believe back then, too!

Also... it was 24 years ago?! Well yes, I suppose it was!

Aphex Twin - Drukqs ad from Snoozer magazine, October 2001. It's hard to believe that this record was met with mixed reactions at the time.

Nonima + Abdicant - Phase Memory [mhrk464]

Born from a Mahorka experiment in collaboration this is the 1st (but not last!) release from the duo, a tightly woven IDM album that nods to the genre’s classic period while embracing modern production sensibilities.

Casting Tron Guy as the lead would have made the film Metatron.

I hear some people have been critical about casting in ‘Tron Guy: Arise’ but I wouldn’t know about that.
Sir Tron Guy

Well that’s how I read it too, the moment I saw an advertisement for it, on the side of a bus, Tron: Arse.

As for whether it’s any good or not: I don’t know or, frankly, care.
Father Jack looking forward to ‘Tron: Arse’.

Emails have been sent to users in batches, over months.

“For years, we’ve heard feedback from our community…”

Sure. 😒

Setting up a Stripe a/c will be impossible for some, and daunting for very many. Does Bandcamp’s mgmt. want to clear away small accounts, or just not understand their world? 🤔
phantomcircuit.bsky.social
That was a good post, but you spoilt it by posting it. 😜

Yes, perhaps even “decision fatigue” re choice of platform. Many prefer to let Meta, Google & other big players take care of everything. New options require time & effort. There is also the widespread issue of learned helplessness. The commodification of IT. “No wish to learn? No problem. For us.” 😈

*Looks the word up* Ah, interesting. 👼

AI would be more efficient. Or a simple shell script.

“You’re absolutely right! You’re absolutely right! You’re absolutely right! ...”

It has seemed for a long time that relatively few musicians and music-related ventures (and yes, other people/projects too) have made an effort to participate. The mindset of many is that only an instant return makes anything worthwhile, and not enough of that old pioneer spirit!
