‘An army spokesperson said: "We can confirm an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Shornecliffe Troop, 621 EOD Squadron, responded to Beachy Head, at the request of HM Coastguard and Rescue.

"The item was inspected by an EOD operator and confirmed to be a legacy four-inch naval shell.’
