I would love for there to be a place where we could talk about student issues and it would be good faith engagement and people would safely assume you're not making fun of students or anything, just generally seeking guidance.

I find it so predictable and so irritating that we are going to nitpick at teachers about the tiniest of details, when the system sets us up to fail.

Wait time or minor changing in questioning, grouping, or strategies isn't going to overcome the effect of crowded classrooms or dilapidated buildings

I mean, I'm not going to argue that, in the current iteration, SPED Is working well.

I was just teaching about the CDC to high schoolers this week in a class for students interested in medicine.

I truly don't even know what to say.

"The CDC exists. It used to be a world-respected agency on infectious disease. Now... well... things are changing. I guess we'll see?"

I don’t know who needs to hear this but the CDC is being eviscerated right now. America is not going to have any kind of outbreak response capacity after tonight. Americans’ health data is no longer secure. Say goodbye to federal public health in any capacity. It’s a disaster. We won’t recover.

In the 90s my HS chem teacher told a student, IN FRONT OF THE WHOLE CLASS, that he'd help her once she, "bent over & assumed the position."

The student told her mom who said, "Oh, Mr. Nelson, he's been doing that for ages."

Something was done, but it had clearly been going on for decades.
