I ❤️ epistolary fiction so much, it's not even funny.
I have started reading THE OCTOBER FILM HAUNT & I fear I may not be the same once I am finished. This is a transformative kind of book. A rare one. A forbidden & lost videotape in print form. Resolutely uncomfortable, hazy tracking-laden prose.
Ah, fuck. Music trivia is during the zombie walk? Goddammit.
Of course, the downspout I had to replace was on the side of the house surrounded by blackberry cane & teeming with mosquitos.
If LOLA doesn't make you cry like a baby, you've no heart.
The Siren Six!, The Voice with a Built-In Promise.

Ska-mod rock with an insane level of energy & verve which eschews the trappings of most ska bands of the era to create something which feels timeless. The follow-up EP features "If You're Not Now, You Never Were," one of my favorite songs ever.
a poll idea that just popped into my head: since we've collectively been doing 90's nostalgia for awhile as a culture, what's your secret/stealth best 90's album? not something necessarily widely super critically beloved but is nonetheless great and defining for you?
Mildly irritating Etheria Film Fest isn't a featured thing on Shudder, but it's there & I am watching it.

Not that you ever need an excuse to rewatch the movie of the year, but this is a pretty good one!
Andi Zeisler is such a good writer, I will take any recommendation & immediately run to check it out.
"The idea that the current success of horror can be explained by the triumph of high-concept sophistication over baser motivations of the past is fascinating, though, if only because it presumes that horror needs a good reason to be looked in the face," writes @andizeisler.bsky.social.
Horror has always been about us
Zefyr Lisowski's "Uncanny Valley Girls" argues that horror isn’t just about fear, but a way to understand ourselves.

Still time to order hundreds of copies of CLOWN IN A CORNFIELD (amzn.to/3W7wafC) and INFLUENCER (amzn.to/4omkn9h) to give away to trick or treaters.

And be sanctioned by your HOA.

The unifying theory of all American conservatives is that they all demand that you be their friends at gunpoint, and tell them how handsome and special they are
The conservative project always makes much more sense when you realize it's just run by upper middle class American christian nationalist who are basically completely fine in material position but furious the entire country doesn't bow to their weird cultural preferences.
oh no, on CBS no less
Just did a last minute with the Stray Cats' Lee Rocker & appropriately enough, the kittens were a nightmare during it.

🎉AND HERE IT IS!🎉

This year's ✨Wildlife Photographer of the Year✨ is won by Wim van den Heever's rather haunting image of a brown hyena emerging from the darkness in the abandoned mining town of Kolmanskop, Namibia! Just in time for spooky season 📸🧪🐕
A brown hyena with stripes on its legs stands at the bottom right corner of the picture, as an abandoned house towers in the background during the night.
Watched it today, as well. Fun times.
48 hours makes a big difference & I'm very much in my feels about the whole thing. I'm just glad that, in the end, she wasn't hurting anymore. Her brow unfurrowed & her fur got soft again after she went. Now she's hanging with her best friend again. I hope they've been cleaning each other all day.
Used to do a guest lecture for the KCKCC video production class on what makes a music video stand out & showing "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" was always part of it. So simple, so effective, so brilliant. Just him & the song.
D’Angelo, the neo-soul trailblazer and modern visionary whose three albums were all heralded as classic works of art, has died at age 51.
