Responding to a complaint of mine about AI videos -- which I said "aren't real" -- someone did an "Um, actually the videos themselves are real, they just don't depict real things" and I will throw people like that down the stairs.

few ideas have damaged the average psyche more than ‘the customer is always right.’ it should be a little bit humiliating, being a customer. you should walk into any service transaction knowing that the other person, and not you, is in control over whether you get your treats

Your examples seem _strongly_ slanted towards relitigating the parochial Democratic concerns and primaries of 2016, 2020, and 2024 and utterly fail to explain Trump's general election wins in 2016 and 2024. I strongly suspect you of motivated reasoning.
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
Your theory, as outlined right here, is that voters _would_ vote for candidates based on their policy preferences, but don't because they are being bamboozled into supporting someone else.

I suggest to you that the majority of voters simply aren't strongly motivated by policy preferences.

Given the evidence before our eyes, I'm going to have to ask _you_ for your evidence that voters vote for policies over candidates. You are _yourself_ mad that voters didn't pick your guy based on his policies. They didn't because they don't vote for policy!
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
See also; all the people that wanted to vote for Trump and simply attributed to him the policies they wanted him to support, ignoring all the policies he said he supported (and, in point of fact, went on to implement as president).

People don't support policies. They support candidates.

Twice, as it happens. The second time he didn't even get second place.

I'm actually fully capable of accusing you of antisemitism if that's what I think you're doing, and I don't. I think you _are_ making up stories to explain away the otherwise simple fact that your guy had his shot, specifically in the Democratic primaries, and lost.
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
You appear utterly convinced that some unnamed group is somehow exerting a Rasputin-like mind control on (Democratic primary) voters.

Your agenda here couldn't be clearer if it were lab-grade helium gas.
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
Again, there is no evidence that holding more popular policy positions is a major driver of electoral outcomes. It sounds like you are simply very mad that this is the case and are making up just-so stories about 'electability' Dolchstosslegendes to explain away your preferred candidate's losses.
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
Either popular positions sway voters or they don't. Could I get you to make up your mind?
nocatsnomasters.bsky.social
What evidence do you have for your "people vote for candidates that support their preferred policies" thesis?

Any?

Any at all?

I'd argue this is wrong. The point isn't power via cruelty. The point is cruelty, that is to say the pleasures of sadism, gained via the exercise of power. They want power because they want to hurt people, but without power, people just walk away. That's why small, weak men are so angry.

I used to think people just didn’t understand what Columbus did but now I think some are really attached to him (as opposed to other worthy italians to celebrate) because their whole thing is not only getting away with doing horrible things but forcing everyone to praise them for being horrible

Fie on "a world where everybody is sexy and nobody is horny".

Thank you for carrying the torch forward.

> I don‘t understand why you would support a candidate who opposes the policies you support.

I don't either.

But.
Here.
We.
Are.

Listening to a woman at the airport talk about how they had to double what they were offering for a highly specialized position because they "weren't attracting the right candidates."

It's amazing how easy it is to "find the right people" when you actually pay them what the position is worth 😆

Is it really so difficult to understand that people supported M4A but also supported Clinton over Sanders?

When you're too damn stupid to do actual work, they make you a C-suite executive and tell you to come up with ideas like this.

I think that might be the proper title, yes. I can't keep the maze of title nonsense in that event straight in my head.
