Sharks had zero shots on goal in the third period

arguably, also a minimalist aesthetic

Brandon Bussi, #2 goaltender for Carolina, beats the Sharks with the first completely undecorated goalie mask I can remember seeing in years

minimalist aesthetic

To my utter astonishment the Sharks picked the goal song I ranked first when season ticket holders voted on four new options. These votes hardly ever go the way I think they should

Hoping to hear it frequently!

This is invariably a bad sign and almost always leads to an embarrassing walkback by the administration

But things might be different now

Indiana University fires IDS
adviser amid push to control
student newspaper's content The director of student media at Indiana University was fired amidst a dispute between university leadership and editors at the Indiana Daily Student over what content gets printed in the student newspaper.

As director of student media, Jim Rodenbush did not directly oversee or have any say over the content published in the IDS, per a charter between the IDS and the university. But he told IndyStar his firing follows a series of meetings with IU Media School leadership in which it grew increasingly apparent they were expecting him to officially prohibit students from publishing news.

Important point. More generally, we've reached a point where traditional media properties are worth so little compared to the scale of top plutocrat wealth that they don't need to worry about profitability if they think it has leverage on other lines of business or just hobby value to them

Bezos is perfectly happy to publish the Post at a loss if he can use it to keep demonstrate obedience to the regime so his other businesses can keep making money. It’s just an operating cost to him.

Lmao WaPo has fewer than 100K circulation now. It turns out “alienate your liberal subscriber base” is not a good strategy when the Republicans also hate you. www.forbes.com/sites/andyme...

Hail and farewell Miss Major. This BAR obit discusses the imprint she left on the Bay Area specifically

I don’t know why he waited until the very end, but I’m glad he signed this bill. Voters get to choose between paying higher (and regressive) taxes, or living in a transportation hellscape

Better choices would have been, well, better, but we deal with the residue of 70’s/80’s GOP politics here

BREAKING: The Governor signed our legislation to authorize a Bay Area regional funding ballot measure for transit.

SB 63 is critical to avoid massive service cuts at Muni, BART, Caltrain & other systems. We need to stabilize & modernize these systems for the Bay Area’s future.

I was really afraid the powers that be were going to let WPSU go. Philly and environs will need to step up to raise that $17 million – while not starving ongoing activity

Good luck to them

“WHYY has agreed on their own to go out and fundraise and raise money for that $17 million that is needed over the five-year period,” said Sara Thorndike, Penn State’s SVP for finance and business. current.org/2025/10/penn...

For a local paper, this is a pretty deep analysis of league finances with some informative quotes from people other than the usual suspects. Props to @mingemi.bsky.social for another stellar job of reporting

This is another outstanding piece of digital journalism (playing with maps for the win) and answers a question that’s been stuck in my head since the first time I visited San Francisco as a young teen. It involves a street intersecting Market from the south, close to the Ferry Building

Per @sportradar.bsky.social, #SJSharks are the first team in NHL history to lose their first two games of a season while having a lead within the last 100 seconds in both games. #NHLStats

I would really like to know what’s up with this

8th loss by #SJSharks since 2020-21 in which they led in the final minute of regulation and lost (most in NHL during span). 13th loss during span in which they led in the final two minutes, also most. Both losses this season were after leading in final two minutes. No other team has one such loss.

Outstanding analysis. Wouldn’t it be nice if this video was recognized as a turning point, sometime in the future?
