50 years and 1 day ago, the SS Edmund Fitzgerald and her crew went down in Lake Superior off the shores of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. 49 years and 11 months ago, Gordon Lightfoot recorded a song about it. Today seemed as good an occasion as any to play it on an organ at a hockey game.
