Bizarre feeling when a huge account is dunking on someone you know irl who doesn’t know you’re on here
Swing voters in particular famously do not have a coherent set of beliefs along a left-right axis
I agree with this in theory, but my experience is that a lot of kinda shitty MD/DO practitioners make it all the way through to practicing FM/IM, while the best PAs I’ve seen are lightyears better at taking chronic quality of life issues seriously. IDK. Not so clear cut.

God, or whatever you believe in, help the people of Jamaica. Worst landfall on record just occurred, according to @capitalweather.bsky.social. Graphic below is from them. Sustained winds of 185MPH and gusts of 252(!) MPH at land level.
For similar reasons, Reading PA, although that is way smaller than second-tier

Allentown/Greater Lehigh Valley is closer to actual second-tier I guess
Some family structures are basically impossible to talk about without this kind of shorthand! Almost of my actual first cousins are 20+ years older than me; some of them have kids who are only a year or two younger than me. Would be weird to have had to say “once removed” every time!
I think there’s a version of this that is ~true, (I would avoid implying “owed”, but for practical reasons I think nominating Harris was probably the best option by the time Biden quit, and I do question if any D could have won under 2024 conditions) but KJP is *awful* at articulating her argument
Sometimes you really can just see with your eyes that the curve doesn’t even remotely fit! And in this case I’m not sure any curve would
Yeah… I think if you basically get a world of Morlocks and Eloi (metaphorically speaking) you’ve kinda fucked up pretty bad? Even if they’re all technically people

One year ago, I went on CNN and expressed my concern that if Harris lost after not defending trans people that somehow the takeaway would still be that trans people were the reason. I hate being right! www.readtpa.com/p/watch-the-...
I finally read yesterday’s Chotiner interview with Karine Jean-Pierre, and oof

I don’t even think Chotiner does a particularly good job in this one! The stuff about the convention remains a weird fixation about 2024!

Makes it easier to understand why Biden had more comms problems after Psaki left
Big divorced man energy here
Bill Gates has decided being accepted by pedophiles, abusers, and fascists is more important than the future of humanity. Maybe he’ll ask Prince Andrew to move in with him. www.nytimes.com/2025/10/28/c...

Yeah I’m tired today. I at least had October 29 right though…
Oh tbc, I don’t have time or inclination anymore, but I was very active 25-30 years ago. Good to know these exist!

43 years ago today, readers the world over opened their newspapers and gazed upon cow tools for the first time. happy birthday cow tools. you look great.
The number of people who do not understand what a joke is (and I guess don’t know what The Onion is?) in the replies/QTs, good lord
Just about spit out my coffee when I saw this in my morning newspaper @theonion.com
I just want to note that it is fucking incredible that he repeatedly has ripped Casey for his supposed conflict of interest in having a partner working for Anthropic while he himself is personally doing PR for AI
Like it’s a horrible bubble and I hate almost every heavily marketed application of it, but it clearly has *some* valid uses
If you think EZ’s only opining on AI *economics*, you should familiarize yourself with his oeuvre a little better. That’s his focus, but he frequently implies/suggests that the technology is entirely useless, which is just… not true? And only something you could say from ignorance or dishonesty rly

i mean, harris ran the campaign they’re advocating for. it probably etched out an extra point or two but that was never as important as the macropolitical enviroment (backlash from covid inflation) which, via association with joe biden, harris could not escape.
the democratic party’s basic problem is it has almost no control over how its message reaches the ears of voters, especially outside of presidential election years. but rather than devote serious time, attention and cash to that problem its consultants and pundits want to fight factional battles
He’s also among the most thin-skinned guys who ever lived, and entirely out of his depth when he tries to interview someone thoughtful

I used to feel more positively about his role in tech criticism, but the longer I’ve watched, the more it’s like… oh 😬
