I think a leader knowing they can't just go "oi fucko" at their MPs and, say, freeze a load of them out for voting against starving kids probably leads to more consensius/consensual political cultural

Meanwhile the whip system has enforced an extremely horrific culture of ritualised humiliation that covers up sexual abuse, drug abuse, violence, bullying, and reinforces political corruption, so maybe the Greens have a point that it's Bad™ and alternatives should be considered

Within Green Parties the alternative to the whipping system is party management via the Leader of the Parliamentary Green Party - the most direct analogy to how this functions in a western democracy is Germany, which outright bans political whipping as we know it in its constitution

Not once have I seen an explanation for why teenagers must hear things that upset them in virtue of the unspecified speech-acts being upsetting, nor have I ever seen an explanation for why teenagers will be forbidden to express displeasure with upsetting things.
