I was with 60 kids 2 weeks ago, grades 8 - 12, in a workshop on digital devices and their well-being. I was blown away at how well informed they were abput the dangers of outsourcing their cognition to AI, and on the destructiveness of social media algorithms to their mental health.

I've been the main Thanksgiving cook at our house for 30 years, and I still smoke a "practice turkey" about this time of the year, mostly bc turkey is over-rated, and my main goal is to have a lot of leftover meat to use in gumbo, which is turkey's highest calling.

Had the same grandad. Left MO Bootheel at 15, picked oranges in CA, worked the line at Buick in Flint for over 30 yrs, retired with old school pension. Zero nostalgia about his working days, wore off the rack suits and custom made shoes every day after retirement, drove big, overpowered sedans.
